Default I really have no idea what to get...

I have a few selections. And a few specifications. Help me decide.

Able to play music, videos and pics.
2 inch screen
Memory card slot
at least 2gb already in it.
Good, easy positioning of buttons.

I've looked at these ones.

1. This is the one I want to get. Is it good?

2. Not so much

3. Fake Ipod touch... not sure...

kdawg , as a rule of thumb, many 4GB clone players are hacked, and for 8GB most definitely so.

For the 1st links, "popdeal" looks ok, but there are many negative feedbacks on faulty players and slow shipping.
For "you.must.have", 8GB is definitely hacked. There are many negative feedbacks on this.

For the 2nd links, "coolgames4you" looks ok too, but many negative feedbacks on faulty items.

The 3rd links, looks to be the clone or oem version of the onda player. Should be ok as they are general Rockchip based and usually won't be memory hacked.

The 4th link, is likely to be a Rockchip player, and generally should be ok.

i would stay away from the 1st linked players as they are likely to be hacked. The 2 player in the 2nd links by "popdeal" uses an Actions chipset, which as compared to Rockchip, has lower quality.

The remaining players should be fine, but don't upgrade any firmware as mentioned in one of the auctions, as it would very likely brick it instead.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

The very second link looks like (from the negative feedback) that the 8gb is hacked and is really a 4gb. Why not get it though? So which player, in your opinion, should I get? Or are there other players that you can reccomend? And what is a good site to look at players that is based in the USA and has good prices?

kdawg , there are some feedbacks that mentioned the players which originally were 8GB, are actually hacked 1GB chips.

Choosing a player depends very much on your budget. Almost all players are able to play videos, music, fm, etc.

For a budget of less than $60, you could get an Actions chipset player, which plays .AMV encoded videos. The video quality isin't that great, but acceptable. Most hacked players are Actions chipset.

For $60 to $100, you could get a decent Rockchip player which offers better quality and reliability than the Actions chipset. Rockchip also plays .AVI encoded videos, which has higher quality than the .AMV format.

For above $100, you could get the higher ended players like Meizu, Teclast, Onda, etc. These are chinese branded players with regular firmware updates and offers better reliability.

If you wish to get a good deal, you can try ebay, but avoid the Actions chipset players and go for the Rockchip or the Chinese branded players.
A 2GB chip itself costs about $25-26 each, if the price is too low, something is not right. Always remember that if the deal is too good to be true, maybe it just is.

There are some sites which offers the Chinese branded players at competitive prices:

www.houseofdap.com - Managed by Tomas, one of the first few sites to offer Meizus and Teclast. They are based in China though.

www.mp4nation.net - Owned by razzer001 a member of this forum, offers very competitive prices. He is based in the USA, but dropships from HongKong (if i'm not wrong).

The feedback for that particular player says that it's actually a 4gb. Which is fine for me.

kdawg , for the ebay seller "you.must.have" which was the one you are referring to, i've double checked it, and indeed there were 2 negatives about the 8GB being a hacked 4GB.

However, there were also 8 negatives saying the 8GB was actually a hacked 1GB.

Try going to www.toolhaus.org and enter in the seller's userid exactly as in ebay. This site allows you to filter all the negative feedbacks to view in a single list.

Alternatively you can view it directly here http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?Use...ed+by&ref=home

It is entirely upto you whether you would want to take a risk and purchase the hacked 8GB player, as it might be 4GB, or more likely 1GB.

What is the likelihood of me being able to get a partial refund?

The one's that are 1gb are these two and three of the ones that I want.

Would you say it's safe to get the one's from this seller?

I have heard TinyDeal/TinyDeal Direct are pretty good, there website is www.tinydeal.com. They sell players for a pretty great price, they have a new touch screen player which looks similar to Onda Players! 4GB is only $79.99USD with free shipping! They say there players are not hacked, but there is only one way to find out.
