Windows doesn't recognize player when plugged into USB

I need some help. I bought my daughter an mp4 player off ebay. It came out of hong kong, so of course the instructions make no sense.

I have charged up the player, then attached to usb port on computer but nothing happens. What can I do if windows does not recognize my player plugged into the usb port?

I emailed the seller & he referred me to this site but there are so many downloads I don't know which one I need. I have to be honest, I've read thru some of the forums and have no idea what you all are talking about thru most of them.

Is there a "mp4 guide for dummies"? I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out, but I'm at a loss & my daughter still doesn't have an mp4 player (which of course showed up late to begin with).

I appreciate any help you have to offer!

 You just solved the problem I had!
I've been working on trying to solve that darn machine problem all afternoon and it was all the cable's fault! <banging>

THANKS!

MP4 can't be detected by the computer!

Hi, I have just bought a Mwalker BL337G silver mp4 player from Malaysia. I plugged it into my computer but the computer can't recognize the device. I can get it charged up with the usb plugged into the computer though. I had tried with another cable but still it says can't recognize the device.

p/s: The computer can detect the device at first but nothing can be transfered into it, however, during the second try, the computer said that it can't recognize the device. The player can't be detected by the computer at all after the first try.

Can someone please help me?

I'm having the same problem myself. I'll have to try and get another cable and see if that solves it.

Do you mean you don't have another USB cable or you've tried another one and it's still the same problem?

Re: Windows doesn't recognize player when plugged into USB

I had the same problem.....
So i bought a new USB cable .....
But now the computer displayed it as an "Unknown Device"...
Then when i connected it to a USB 1.1 port it started working....

u can also try some softwares which restrict USB 2.0 to USB 1.1.
