Default MP4 player will not shuffle between music folders

My MP4 player will not shuffle between music folders. It does shuffle between songs within a folder, but not between the folders themselves. I assume there could be a problem with the firmware. Does anyone have a copy of:
2006/10/30
9.0.50
CTW500_S75
2006/11/16
Another issue I have with it is that it always goes to sleep within a few seconds, even though the date and time is set correctly, and "sleep" is set to 0.
I would appreciate help. The screen on the player is 1.8"

Macx , there is no problem with the firmware. Unfortunately the firmware was coded in such a way that it could only shuffle within a folder and not multiple folders. No firmware upgrades would be able to fix this as this is a common problem.

About the "sleep" problem, do you mean the player turns itself off after 10secs? or does it just blank out the screen?

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Thanks for the help and replies. Interesting comments you made about shuffling between folders. In desperation, before you replied, I repartitioned and reformatted the player and now it does shuffle between music folders - now isn't that weird. There was not any change in the memory reporting after the drive was repartitioned and formatted, but the shuffling problem was solved. I used the instructions on this web site.
Yes, the screen does blank out after about 10 sec. That is what I meant - not going to sleep mode. Is there any way to increase the time before the screen blanks out?

Macx,

Very interesting solution! I too am with lattesurf and to my knowledge, wasn't possible on majority of firmware versions and was only a real feature a lot later on...... So I would have also agree with lattesurf that if you didn't have that feature, then you wouldn't have been able to do it.

So, can you tell me what you did exactly? You just repartition it (through Windows? Created two drives or something?) then reformatted it again (from Windows?).

I would be interested to know how you did it and see if others can do the same to get the same feature.

For the sleep timer, look at this Knowledge Base and see if it help solve your problem:
How to: Set sleep and power off settings.

I just followed these instructions exactly:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ight=partition

Although mine did not seem to have a memory hack, following these instructions has enabled shuffling between music folders. Hope it works for you.

The sleep/power off instructions do not solve the problem of the screen blacking out after about 10 sec.

Hmm... interesting. Really interesting. Too bad i'm not into Actions players anymore.

As for the LCD blank, go into Settings and set DarkMode to a higher value, or disable it by setting it to zero. But the LCD backlight eats quite a bit of battery and causes background noise, so i'd recommend you not to disable it and to just set a longer timeout period.
