Default 2GB Nano Clone -- dead battery?

I saw my old 2GB nano clone laying around yesterday, it was a little dusty but in its silicone case, I never used it much and hadn't touched it in about a year. I went to turn it on and it wouldn't respond, so I plugged it into USB, immediately it was recognized and I could browse all of my old files on there, even play music/vids from the headphone jack while it was plugged in, except the battery was fully white and would only ocassionally make the charging animation.

I thought maybe the battery needed a jolt from the wallpower, so I used the USB wallcharger that came with the player and left it for about an hour, took it off and still can't even get the thing to turn on unless it is plugged in to a USB powersource.

Is the battery just dead from not being used in awhile or is there something I can do to shock this thing back to life, Frankenstein style?

Thanks.

BigTymer , likely the battery had been fully drained. Whilst in storage, was the On/Off switch in the On position? If so, then most likely the battery would need to be replaced.

To be sure, open the player and measure the voltage of the battery, it shouldn't be anything lesser than 2-2.5V or else it would be "dead" and need replacement.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

T39 doesn''t sound as good as my T29
