Default Help - Missing MP3 files on MP4 player

I have a LG MP4 player Scc91-002 player.

I recently uploaded around 100 mp3 files. For the first day or two, it was showing that all my files were there, so it was showing I had 160+ files. I looked today and I have 101 files on my MP4 player. However, It shows when I look at the Properties of the player at the top level there is 800+mb being used. The 1.5 folder underneath shows that only 550 mb or 100 files are being stored.

Where are the missing files?

is there any way to retrieve them?

Thanks in Advance

Have a look at the stickies at the top of this forum section.

Your player is most likely memory hacked, to show a larger capacity than it actually has.

The follow this method here -->How To: Removing Memory Hack.

It will not recover the missing files, but it will prevent this from happening in the future.

Well the good news is that I dd retrieve the files using Recuva. Not convinced its a memory hack issue. I deleted a folder structure that was in place leading up to losing these files as well. I moved the files into the root directory. I think this had something to do with it as well as there was a desktop.ini file that deleted as well when this happened.

Not ruling out the memory hack theory, but not convinced just yet.

Hmm, if you could recover your files then it ain't hacked.

It's most likely a bad flash chip, or crappy firmware messing up your file allocation table. Try reformatting it, use FAT (not FAT32) and see if it happens again.
