IDENTIFY HYNIX FLASH CHIP

HYNIX KOR

HY27US08121A

TPCB 626A

^ Upon purchasing a IPOD-clone on a recent trip to Beijing, I loaded the player with all available music and movie files; however memory issues ensued and followed the memory hack removal guide. Revealing memory availability of approx. 45 megabytes.

This is rather strange considering by cross-checking that particular chip with the Hynix Part No. Decoder (http://www.hynix.com/inc/pdfDownload...ND%20Flash.pdf) it identifies that chip as 512 megabytes.

Insight into this matter would be most appreciated.

gumm1bear , you have misinterpreted the datasheet. It is a 512 Megabit, or 64MegaByte memory chip, as 1Byte = 8bits.
The density values given in the datasheet are in bits not bytes.
