Don't try to reflash the firmware, you'll most likely kill the player.

Make sure the videos are in the right format, Rockchips are especially picky on video files. As for that folder issue, it sounds like a bad memory chip. I've never heard of memory hacks on Rockchip players, so i think the flash memory has bad sectors. If you have a warranty on it, try getting a replacement.

No need to update the firmware, the player should be fine now you have formatted the memory.

You will need to run your videos though aviconverter to get the video resolution to match the player, set the resolution in aviconverter to 220x176 if you have a 2" player or 320x240 if you have a 2.4" player.

Aviconverter is available either on your cd or in the downloads section of this site.

Is your player DEAD?
If your player is still playing music then there is no need to update the firmware, just convert the videos with AviConverter and they should play.

Re: "file format" error - can't play vidoes on Roc

Have you tried some of the SAMPLE VIDEOS we have on this site (in the "Downloads" area) and tried them on your player?

I know Rockchip based players are very fussy and that the .AVI videos need to be a SPECIFIC video resolution size, otherwise they will give the "format error" message.

Do you still have a copy of the sample videos from your player somewhere backed up?

nathaniel18 6th Feb 2008 8:03 pm

since i reformat it,,.,. the sample video was gone,.,.,.
i post a pic of my player but its not on the site yet,.,. please post it so that you can see the resolution,,,.
its just the video is the problem,.,.,.

Try converting your videos with aviconverter download here:-

Hi Nathaniel,
you should try another avi converter software first instead of a new firmware. Even you can try the same converter with different frame per second setting, i.e 20 fps or 24 fps. Good luck.

Hi Nathaniel. Try downloading Virtual Dub from this site. It has several options where you can adjust settings of your video. Selecting Audio and Full Processing mode should help your problem and Options and making sure Sync to Audio is selected.
