Default computer no longer reconizing player

hey i have a 3rd gen mp4 player and it was working alright until now

i noticed that while im working i would tend to get static shocks from things around me and while i would be listening to my player once it recieved the shock it would reboot.

today it happened but it is stuck on the hour glass screen when the player is on the screen will go black for a sec (probably because of the sleep timer) then go right back to the load screen.

when i got home i tried to connect it to the computer and it said it was new hardware and i had to reload it (player still on the hr glass) i popped in the cd that came with it and the computer is saying "the hardware was no installed because wizard can not find the nessicary software

now it wont even show it as being connecting. you know th sound windows makes when you conect a usb port in (the 2 notes) i will connect it and it will make a pause and make the first note 3 times.

BTW this is the same computer that i used to put the music on to the player in the first place
