Default Touchscreen has become faulty

ok guys i bought this new mp4 player from ebay:

DV Camera + Touch 2.8"TFT MP3 MP4 4GB FM USB IPG5-4R

it has been working fine for about a week and now the touch screen has become faulty! when i press on radio for example it opens up the camera instead!!!

i cannot listen to music or anything on it at the moment!!! any fix i can do such as firmware?? please help me!

edit: also if it is a firmware that will fix it, could anyone help me identify what firmware i need for this mp4 player. thanks for your help!!

from the settings:

Ver: 00.00.0005
Date: 2008-01-11
FlashMem: 3933/3945MB (i dont know why there is so much space taken up!!! there is only 1 song (maybe it means 3933MB free space?))
CardMem: 0/ 0MB

Hi mattxo,

Look around your player and see if you can see a small 'reset' type button you can press?

From what others have said these players have some sort of reset hole, best to try this first, the chance of finding another working firmware for this player is slim as it is an unbranded Onda vx858 copy.

The memory is ok though, it is normal for these Rockchip players to display the amount of memory free, not the memory used.

I would advise against experimenting with different firmwares as you would probably "brick" the player, unless of course as a last resort if the player is unusable and returning to the seller is not an option.

well ive tried the reset button but all it does is turn the mp4 player off.

i have found a calibrate setting in the system settings but when it says touch center. i touch the center of the screen and nothing happens =/

at the moment the player is unusable because i cannot access to music/radio/video parts of the player!!

never mind guys, forget my previous problem. i contacted the seller and he told me where to get an updated firmware and he said that should fix the problem!!!

but there is a new problem

when i connect the mp4 player to my computer after i use the update feature on the mp4 player windows has problems installing it and therefore i get this message when trying to update the firmware:

Checking firmware...

Error: USB device not found.

i'll look around this site tryin to find a solution but if someone already knows what to do could ya post it here to save me time? thanks!

This is how to get into update mode,

All you do is this,

1) Switch the player OFF using the main on/off switch.

2) Hold down the "MENU" button and keep it held down.

3) Connect the usb to the player.

4) Wait for about 10 seconds before releasing the button.

5) You should be now in "ROCK USB" upgrade mode

6) Then just start ConsumerUpdate and upload your firmware.

In case your system is missing the RockUSB driver you can download it here:-

Here is an extensive thread on MP4nation about these players that may help if you run into problems, Good Luck!

Hi mattxo,

Where did you get the firmware from?

Did you contact the seller about this problem? Did he give any solution?

I wouldn't have thought a firmware update would fix this type of problem as it seems pretty drastic. Thought a hard reset might work rather than a firmware update....... always that risk of killing a player that's all.
