Hi again! I used a different usb cable and my pc recognized the player, so I started disc utility to format and test the real memory and after step one, windows gave me a message saying 'usb device not recognized', now I have a different problem that still stops me being able to use my player is there anything I can do? thanks in advance

Hi maliagracemullally,

Glad you solved the first problem. A lot of the time, the problem is with the USB cable. Probably just cheaply and poorly done by the manufacturer.

With your second problem, the "USB device not recognised" message, you get that if you don't have an ACTIONS chipset based player. The MP3 Player Utilities only works with ACTIONS chipsets. You can which which chipset it is by the firmware version. Go into your players "Setup" and "Firmware Info" option and let us know of the version.

BKSD91NB24_32
2008-03-11

Can I format the player by right clicking at using the windows fat32 format tool, will that do the same job? it seems my player is temperamental!

Hi maliagracemullally,

Your firmware version indicates it's an ACTIONS chipset player so it's odd it doesn't detect it properly. What version are you using?

Before you format it in Windows, check the properties of the drive to find out whether it's FAT or FAT32 file system. Some players use FAT some use FAT32. Looking at your firmware version, since it's newer, I would say it uses FAT32. Then format it in Windows with the same format.

The player uses fat32 so I formatted it using that and it shows the true memory as 3.84gb so hopefully the memory isnt hacked and so far since the formatting my laptop is recognising it every time! thanks so much for the help!
