Can't get computer to recognise player
I bought an MP3 player off Ebay. When I plug it in the computer doesn't pick it up. I know the USB cable works because when I plug it in the display on the player shows that it's charging. Any ideas how I can get the computer to recognise it or should I just return it? Thanks, any help appreciated!

well better to first check that usb cable with some thing else or try another usb cable or try in the different usb output if the computer. Most probably it will work and if not then the good chances are there that usb cable is not good becasue for chanrging and to access the data there are different points in the usb cable .Two points for the charging and TWO for the data....

Hi helenerw,
Unfortunately even though the display on your player shows it's charging when it's plugged in doesn't mean the cable is not at fault. There are pins for the charging and the data in the USB plug, so it could be that the 'data' side of the USB cable is faulty. Some things to try: 1. Try another USB CABLE and see if that works 2. Try that same USB cable on ANOTHER DEVICE instead and see if that works as well. Majority of these problems start with a faulty USB cable. Is this the first time you've plugged in your player to your computer? Or has it been ok in the past? |
Looks like Zulu007 bet me to the mark on this question :).
