Battery issue on new player
I purchased a 4GB generic Hong Kong mp4 player, and it seems to work fine, except when I charge it. When charging the battery icon cycles to show it is charging, however, even after charging overnight, as soon as I unplug the player, the battery icon goes to solid gray (empty). I've used the player for over an hour straight, so I don't beleive it is actually dead.
Seems like a software/firmware glitch. Anyone else experience this? Here is what it says for firmware: MP3 Player BKSC91N014_30 2008-01-19 9.1.52 2005-01-09 Thanks for any and all help! Rob D |
Re: Battery issue on new player
Use AC adaptor for charging.
Set power switch ON position. |
Charging it isn't the issue, as it seems to charge fine, and will play for several hours. However, just the battery indicator on the screen always shows empty, except it isn't actually dead. It's got to be a software issue. Has anyone successfully changed the FW on a 9.1.52?

Hi, do NOT upgrade your firmware. You will most likely brick your player.

Simply because mine is 9.1.52? or is upgrading FW in general dangerous?

The problem seems to have cured itself. I now show a battery reading. I did remove the cover to check the memory chip (got scammed, its a 2g! grr), and maby jarred something back into place. Anyways, I only paid $35 for this, so I think I still got a decent deal.
EDIT: Lol, I figured it out. When charged the battery icon is all gray. And as it drains it turns to the BG color, which happens to be blue, or green, depending on which screen you are in. Lol, it was all gray because it was fully charged. Poor choice of colors for the icon, but now that I figured it out, all is ok. Rob D |
