XP doesn't see my iPod Clone/FM/Camera Player

I just got a Visual Land vl-856 today.

***FOR IMAGE/PICTURE go to: Visual-Land.com & click the vl-806 series link

I got it from a 3rd party distributor which makes me think there were some modifications done but I don't have anything to compare it to, to know for sure.

It's supposed to be plug-n-play with the USB cable but something is screwey.

***When I plug in the USB cable to my XP SP3 computer... it will charge the player but windows doesn't even detect hardware has been added. I check my drives and my cable and my drivers.

Also i have no clue how to access this things bios menu.

I need drivers for this deal as well as any firmware and information that can be provided.

In the menu it says the Software version is: PMP MLC v3.2.1 ak3225L and the hardware: Magic V2

other than that, I have nothing..

Hi ludichris106,

Does your player play ok by itself?

What I've found is a lot of the time, the problem is with the USB CABLE itself. If you can, try to use another USB cable instead.

Also try plugging it into another port on a computer.

Lastly, try it on another computer.

Majority of the time, the problem is with the USB CABLE. If after trying all that, you are still having problems, then I would say there is a problem on the player itself, especially the USB connection port on the player.

Finally managed to get another USB cable (no car on my end). It works, except MAC won't recognize it. I'm not a mac user but this thing is supposed to act like a USB Flash Drive when plugged into a computer (and now that I got it to work w/a new cable, it does act like a USB Flash Drive).

MAC aside... my audio recorder won't let me change the recording volume.

I wanna hack this sucker if it's possible.

I hacked my Moto SLVR L7 phone, and had a blast doing it. Learned a bunch about phones as well. I want to do the same with this Media Player.

Chris
(btw: the reason it's taking me a while to get back to you guys is cause this damn History course is kicking my butt)
