Default [solved] USB detection

Hi, please dont flame me if it has already been covered since i am still new in here, thanks

Anyways, my friend give me a mp3 player, the device works perfectly except both of my computer doesnt detect the Me2 mp4 player, i think it charges my mp4 player but i can never transfer any song to the device, so i am stuck with whatever that is in before. So i wouldnt say this is a dead mp4 device because i can still listen songs and watch movies on it but kind of frustrated that i cant put my own song to my own mp4 player.

The firmware is ACT2097_S75 9.0.50 and it is updated at 2006/06/12. My computers have Window XP at SP2. I tried mp3 utility tools (three different versions) but none seems to able to detect it. (again, Using the usb cable might not allow me to transfer song, but it charge the device pretty sucessfully)

Hi toronto,

Welcome to the site.

Seeing as your player plays fine and it charges but the only issue is your computer doesn't detect it, I would say there's a good chance the problem is the USB CABLE IS FAULTY.

One of the pins might be faulty so it will let you charge it, but your computer can't detect it because of the faulty pin. Try another USB cable instead and see how that goes.

Sorry, another noob question. how can i be sure that the cable is right before i buy it from flea market or futureshop (best buy in US). which type of cable would fit on this player? thanks

It's best you take the USB cable with you when buying one so you know it's the same one.

There's only a few different types of USB cables and it's different for some MP3/MP4 player as well so it's best to take in your player and USB cable. Perhaps they can test it for you in the store if they have a spare cable?

Default Re: USB detection

Thanks, i have solved my problem. the reason why i have to ask is because i already tried three different USB cable before, and believe me when i said all those cables are even more expensive than the mp4 player itself. then i went to the flea market for very cheap one and it works for some reason. I guess cheap products are meant for each other. :P
