[solved] MP4 Player Only Charges via USB won't transfer

I have a 2GB Sumvision Sempra Pro MP4 Player. I've had it for a year. I have used the same USB cable for all that time. My problem is that when I plug in my MP4 player into my computer via USB, the MP4 says it's connected via USB transfer, (the picture of the computer with the cable), and it appears in My Computer as a removable drive, as well as the empty card slot also appears. After about 5 seconds it disconnects and the image on the MP4 changes to a charging animation. I have tried two different cables but both do the same thing. It was working a week ago but it's suddenly stopped wanting to transfer files.

Any help?

Looks like you might have worn the USB socket out on either the player or the PC.

Did you try another USB port on your computer?
have you tried it out on a different computer?

Do you plug the cable in the player frequently? it so then it could be wear and tear, one year of regular use could easily wear out one of these mini USB sockets..
