Hi hlondono,
It sounds like a fault with the memory chip.
Firstly try using a DIFFERENT USB CABLE. Sometimes it's a problem with the USB cable as well that can also cause the problem. That would be the quickest and easiest way to check.
Secondly, try doing a check disk on your player's drive from within Windows. There is a Knowledge Base article about it on the left hand side menu bar under "Knowledge Base". Try the steps there and see if that fixes the problem.

Also, has the problem ALWAYS happened or only happened recently?
