Default S1MP3: Copying files using Mac disables track pausing

I've got a cheap MP4 player with an Actions chip (the 2gb, Ipod Nano, blue one from Dealextreme). It works ok, except some firmware glitches, but there's one that annoys me.

When I copy some songs from a folder to the player's flash disk via USB on MacOS X (Leopard, 10.5.5; and directly via the Finder, as iTunes can't sync non-iPods), when I'm listening to a track and pause it, it doesn't pause but it goes to the beginning of the first track in the player

This would be a firmware issue, if it wasn't that copying the SAME songs via Windows (copying them directly from the Mac via a shared folder), the pause function works correctly. The thing is, if the files are the same ones, what difference exists between copying using Mac and using Windows?
