Default WMA Brand? MP4 player missing drivers.. I think.. HELP!

Hi, I hope someone can help me because I really need to get this MP4 player to work!!
I live in the Jungle in Far North Queensland & the only bloke around who still has all his teeth & uses soap that I could POSSIBLY hook up with has this broken MP4 player that I thought would be realy easy to fix & told him it wouldnt be a problem so that I could impress him & score some nookie.. but.. I have no idea whats up with this thing and now the nookie is in jeopardy!!! *GASP* please help!

This is an 8 Gig MP4 player with an additional SD card slot. on the box it appears to be marketed as WMA brand.
The thing is a little rectangle with about a 2 or 3 inch screen taking up all the space and only 3 little buttons down one side.

what happened: my mate had the thing loaded up with some music from his mates computer before he brought it home, and he says it all worked ok. He got it home, uploaded the drivers off the disk onto his laptop & plugged his MP4 in. Then the screen froze up for a long time, so he unplugged it & tried to turn it off etc. none of that worked so he pressed the reset button.
Since then, he cant get the computer to upload songs to it & it wont play any of the music that it apparently has loaded on there already.

Now, I come along to save the day!

In the end, I formatted the MP4 hard drive, and deleted and reinstalled the software it came with.
The problem seems to be that the software with the player is only to convert video to mp4 format, not to upload music.
Windows media player will recognise there is a device plugged in, but you cant acess the information already on it or transfer files to it. but at least it SAYS its there!

So I dont know if I need to fix the settings in media player (I looked but couldnt see anything obvious) or just download a compatible program that will work with that MP4 player..
I tried to lookup the WMA brands website but I couldnt find anything! I dont know if there is a support website in any of the info that came with it as my mate has everything at his house.

I'm still trying to re-gain my hero status by casualy giving him the correct software bunt onto disk next time I see him like its no big deal & then hey, presto! your MP4 player works how about that nookie?? (at least, thats how it happens in my head.. hahaha!)

Thanks,
Caz.
