Default Mp4 player discharges battery even when in off position

Hello I have an mp4 player that looks like this:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/album_sho...php?pic_id=625
Except my firmware is tv038 mlc v3.0.3.6 hardware says xmt-s509-AAK3631, the problem is, I can leave charging for a whole day, I can watch movies on it with out the battery going dead so I guess I could say it has about 2 hour capacity while watching movies, but if I charge it to a full charge in the morning and turn it off and not use it by the end of the day the battery is dead. I've tried leaving it in stand by or turning it off on the switch but no matter what I do the battery drains itself and i have to charge it every day. It's like it's still using battery power even when turned off. Can anybody help? Could it be a firmware problem? Or is it hardware related? Where can I find firmware for this player?

Thanks

Well, probably due to a few deep discharges the battery now won't accept a charge, when I plug in the cable it says battery full, but I can leave it charging all night that in the morning when I unplug it from the charger it dies immediately, I ordered a 550mA battery from ebay to replace the dead one to see what happens, if it discharges by itself again, I might as well throw the mp4 away as returning it back an have them sending it repaired will cost me more in shipping then ordering a new one.

ok somethin odd just happened, so I dismantled the mp4 again but this time I removed the tape that was around the protective PCB board in the battery itself and measured the voltage, on the battery terminals it measured 4.15V but after the pcb board it only measured 1.34V so I thought ok it must be the board that is busted, well I put the tape back again closed everything up and turned it on anyway, surprisingly it turned on wit the battery only and it's playing a movie as I type for 20 min and still playing, when before it would die immediately when I removed the usb cable. I'm confused now. I'm gonna let it rest to see if later I still have any charg or if it is going to drain itself again. I don't know what happened, I guess the battery was charged but the pcb board wouldn't let the current go through...

Mp4 still drains itself, I have to wait for the battery to see what happens. I feel like a fool for talking to myself here...

Seems like it was a faulty battery all along, I replced it with a new one and it's working ok, I replaced it last night and charged it and today it's has the same charge it had yesterday, so there's no draining. Well even though I didn't get any help from the forum, atleast I hope this will be useful for others that are in the same situation...

Glad you fixed it. Indeed this type of situation is caused by a bad battery and not by a fault inside the player. The on/off switch physically disconnects the battery from the player.
