dead display problem

hi ppl
my mp4 's display is dead, it lights up but doesnt show the start up logo, menues, songs, etc.
otherwise it works properly.
any help? TIA

as you see there is a dark spot on the display, it appeared like 2 months before this

I guess the display has gone bye bye. That spot looks like it eventually turned to a crack and killed the LCD.
