What's the part# of the flash chip?

8Gb = 1GByte

8 GigaBITS (mentioned at the end of the flash chip's ID number) = 1 GigaBYTE. Because 1 Byte = 8 Bits. So the player was probably hacked to show 8 GigaBytes of storage while it only has 1GB.

The flash chip is the rectangular (and usually largest) chip on your player.

Do you think that happened because the wrong firmware has been installed?
I remember when I first got it I could fit in more than 1GB data (definitely not 8GB )
And after the mess which I have done, being just 1 GB

But are you sure that data hasn't become corrupted?

The manufacturer probably knows that you can see the real capacity by opening it up and reading the part#, so they polished it off

Try making an image with s1clone. It will detect the manufacturer and real size of the flash.

Hi petros0,

Where did you buy it from? Was a proper Glacier or a Glacier CLONE?
