Windows reboots when mp4 player is plugged in
Hello,
I have bought an S1MP4 player a few years ago. I used s1fwx to dump its content, then I modified the firmware to replace the Record application by the LCD test application and uploaded it again to the player. Everything worked fine in the player, the LCD Test application had correctly replaced the Record application. But now when I plug the player to any windows XP PC, just after the device is recognized I get a BSOD and must reboot the PC. So I can't flash the original firmware back using an XP PC. I tried to plug it in to a linux PC but I don't know if I can flash the firmware using linux... Any idea ? Thanks in advance. K |

Reinstall OS.

Or try deleting all USB devices/controllers in Device Manager, reboot, let Win reinstall them and try again.
If not... well, reinstall OS. |
Hi misterk72,
What happens if you plug it into ANOTHER computer instead? Does that also reboot that computer as well? Try sndestroy's suggestion of deleting the USB devices from Device Manager as it's not as drastic as reinstalling the Operating System. If that doesn't work, try also another USB cable as well to see if that helps solve the problem. Let us know of the result. |
