Remove "Bricks" Game from MP3 Player
MP3 Player
BKSD91N01_32 2007-10-31 9.1.52 Hello, I was attempting to remove the application "Bricks" from the unit. I attempted extracting the firmware image; editing the property which displays the game in the menu to disable it but was unsuccessful due to what appears to be an incomplete/corrupt image file. The other option was to access the directory where the software is installed and uninstall/delete it which doesn't appear possible. If anyone has any advice about extracting the full and not partial firmware image that would also help. I tried using s1wfx, s1res, and s1_mod. So you know that tools i have. |
Re: Remove "Bricks" Game from MP3 Player
Leave it as-is, there are currently no known ways to manipulate these newer firmware files.

Is there any method of wiping the firmware from the unit all together. Anyway to disable a user from accessing that game file or the firmware at all?

Re: Remove "Bricks" Game from MP3 Player
If you want to make the whole player nonfunctional then just flash the wrong firmware... but are you really sure you want to do that?!?!
|
Yes, how do i do that? As long as it would enable me to re-install the correct firmware at a later date; i am really concerned with disabling access to the software on the unit for the time being.
How would i flash the incorrect firmware or remove it all together? |

Are you sure? You do know there's some amount of risk involved with this... but if you really want to do it then continue reading.
Open it up and get the board ID and CPU, to see if the firmware is available if you do not have the original. Use s1clone to make a backup of the flash chip. Try writing it back to make sure the backup is OK. Then download any firmware that does not match your player and flash it to the player. It will die. You will need to use the Dead Player Recovery Guide to get it to accept new firmware. If you have the exact firmware you can just reflash it, if not then you will need to find a close firmware that will enable the player to function as U disk, then use s1clone to restore the backed-up flash image. |
