Default New player, various questions and help required

HI, I bought my daughter an MP4 player for xmas. Its a pretty basic model as she is only 5 and it is more so she can learn to use one/look after one until she is a little older. Good value for using in the car etc though.

Anyway, I have a few questions which you guys may be able to help with...

1) is there any way I can charge the device without having it "turned on"... or is there any way to see what the charge level is. Whenever i plug it into USB i see the PC screen with USB device graphic and thats it. (Apart from once when i saw a battery icon... not sure how).

2) I have found the best software to be AVI converter 3.0 ( http://www.mympxplayer.org/aviconver...een-df879.html ) and both the 20fps and 22fps versions give me avi files which work on the player (320x240). The only issue i have with video playback is that it quite often looses sync between the video and sound, is anyone aware of anything which fixes this problem? (Files seem fine on the PC)

3) The firmware version on this device is 00.00.0009 2008-09-29 is there any update i can/should apply?

Some of the device info:
4gb Model
branded Mulberry Innovations
Windows recognises it as Rockchip USB MP3 Device

If there is anything else needed to answer the questions, please let me know. Here is a front and back pic of the player:

Sorry to say it's an old type of player now. Can't do much with them I'm afraid you are stuck with what you got.

There are no firmware updates, if you try to swop the firmware chances are you will only make things worse.

1st let me say I am no way and expert but try this download a program called free video converter. you can google it. Now it will install a search bar program called dealio, dnt worry you can unistall that later. Once it is up and ready to go use these settings codec xvid ,size 320x240,frame 25,bitrate 512
now for the audio codec mp3,freq 44100 (that was the default i guess), channel stereo, bitrate 96

Well I hope this helps and you start getting some real njoyment out of the player
