Default Need help with Windows 98 and Rockchip player please

Ok to start I have a HP running Windows 98. I bought a MP4 touchscreen for my son. When I connect the USB to the computer it detects a Rock MP3 then installs it as a USB Mass Storage Device. After that it detects Rockchip USBdisk and installs the driver twice. On the screen of the MP4 player it has a pic of a USB cable and a monitor up until the computer detects the Rockchip USBDisk. When that happens the players screen goes to a battery charging. Now on the computer it gives me a drive D: and a drive E:. When I try to open either it says "device not ready". I did install the driver on the disk that came with it. The info on the player is
RK27SDK
Ver. ID 1.2
HW ID 080422
Any help with this is greatly appreciated as I am slowly starting to lose my mind.
Thanks for any and all help
Jeremy

It sounds more like a problem with your Windows 98.

Try connecting your player to a Windows XP machine instead and see if it works fine. If it does, then definitely something wrong with Windows 98. Remember it's not supported by Microsoft anymore either.

If connecting to a Windows XP computer and you get the same problem, then it's either a problem with the USB cable or the flash memory on your player, but best to try it on Windows XP computer instead to see what happens.

Let us know.

Thanks for the fast reply....right now I don't have access to a XP computer. My daughter has a 8GB Nano clone (not sure exactly which one) that works fine on the 98. So I thought at first that it was a problem with the player. I took that one back and received another one, but it did the same thing. The computer detects the device, it just won't let me access the drive for it.

98, ah, the times when i was little and knew nothing about computers. I would cry for my dad to reinstall my windoze every time i messed it up.

Look on the MSFN forum for the Maximus-Decim USB drivers. Those should do the job. There are also a number of cool enhancements and updates for your 98 system. But, if you register on the forum, don't post around too much. I got banned for no real reason while i've been a great help to the community... The admins there are douchebags.
