Nano-esque MP4 player with Audi iPod dock

Guys, I've just bought this rather Nano-esque device and everything is fine (memory reports and has 4GB etc). However, I've got an iPod plug on the bottom of it as you can see, and it was advertised as "works with all iPod docks and accessories". I've tried plugging it into the Audi iPod dock in my car but the car just doesn't see it - is there something I need to do ?

Dock connector is USB only.

Also, is that a real scroll wheel or a standard 5-key pad?

I have tons of these as well was told they were real apple ipods... but should have known better at the price, but they use a standard 5-key pad.

My question is how in the world can these be opened...my son went and tried updating the firmware after I told him over and over not too... having one heck of a time getting the correct one back on it.

It now reads as being a CD Drive when I connect it... ugh.

Unscrew top or bottom plate, pry off screen cover (held with adhesive to inner frame) and slide assembly out.
