RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
Rockchip RK27SDK Recovery Guide Follow this guide if your player does not turn on. Guida in italiano Try the normal reset: Take a paper clip (straighten it) or a needle. Put it in the hole of the player (the hole which is located in the side of the player where is slot for external memory) with the paper clip you have to push the button which is located in the hole, for 20 seconds! Then remove the paper clip and turn it ON. It should turn ON! Otherwise, the firmware is damaged and the plater needs an hard reset: Download the archives 1) RK27DM Repair tool for Rockchip 2706 or RK27DM Repair tool for Rockchip 2706 2) Rockchip RK27 Upgrade v2.5 or Rockchip RK27 Upgrade v2.5 Extract the archives Connect the player to the PC, so the PC will detect only the internal memory device, and not the hidden partition, even if you had the file rkusb.tag inside. Open the folder RK27DM_Repair_tool_for_Rockchip_2706 and run RK27DM.exe http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/6...magine5zh3.jpg In the program should be written "device found!" (as in the image) and not "PLAYER NOT FOUND", otherwise reconnect the player. Click the button near the string that is under "New firmware Information", and open the file ramos970.RKW which is located in the folder of the same program: RK27DM_Repair_tool_for_Rockchip_2706/firmware Then click on Restore! Wait the end of the flash and go always forward. At the end, click on Exit and reconnect the player. Now the player will be seen as a new peripheral device that has no drivers, so install it with new driver: rockusb27.sys which is located in the folder:RK27DM_Repair_tool_for_Rockchip_2706/Rk27 Driver Now copy the 4 folders and files of the original firmware (so all firmware) in the folder of the program: RK27Upgrade_v2.5/Firmware Then open the program and run RK27Upgrade.exe following the image: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/7...magine4yh5.jpg Click the box that is above the box with "Demo" (so not the box with Demo), then click the box at the right of the last clicked box, and select the path of the original firmware: RK27Upgrade_v2.5/Firmware Then click the button on the lower side of the bar loading. So begins the flash: it will reset all memory allocation from the hidden partition to 60MB and copied the original firmware on it. Then you should format the partition of internal memory the memory for the musics, images and videos) At the end, remove safely the player and restart it! So you have a recovered player with the default firmware! |
Re: RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
Hello Travis, how are you?
I would like to know how long the repairing time takes to finish? Because I'm about a hour waiting the end and nothing happens. " new peripheral device that has no drivers, so install it with new driver: rockusb27.sys which is located in the folder:RK27DM_Repair_tool_for_Rockchip_2706/Rk27 Driver " Did not understand this part, how do I load this drive? One more, the 3" LCD 16G model really uses the RAMOS970.RKW to restore the device? Thank you for your great effort to keep the community updated with your tutorials. :D Wilson |
Re: RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
Hello Travis
Here is how I did. I connected the device and got 2 partitions, one with 60mb and one with 16G. I formated both, got into the repairing program, the device was detected right, then I loaded the ramos970.RKW firmware and clicked RESTORE, I left all night repairing and in the morning it were still repairing. I stoped the program and checked properties of the 16G partition and there was near 800mb of something inside. It seems the repairing did not work. Any suggestion? Thank you again Cheers Wilson |
Re: RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
Hello Travis
I have done the repairing and installed the drives on it. Now I'm stucked at the part of the RK27Ugrade v2.5. Whe I check the box above the DEMO , it automatic request me the path of the FIRMWARE, if I choose the path through the RK27Upgrade 2.5/firm ware, I got a error messege. In that firmware folder should be ONLY 4 folders and nothing more? or there some missing file in it? "Now copy the 4 folders and files of the original firmware (so all firmware) in the folder of the program: RK27Upgrade_v2.5/Firmware " Where do I should copy this 4 folders and files.? The Firmware folder only has 4 folders and nothing else. So, I'm stucked because I cant find the path to the firmware. I will keep trying. Thanks again Wilson |
Re: RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
Hello Travis
It's me again :D . Ok, I copied a known working Firmware and one file to the Firmware directory that is inside of the v2.5 Upgrade folder and now I have the path but after I started the Flash, after one or two lines I got 2 error messeges that are in Chinese, it say something about boot error. So. since I messed up a lot with this repairing thing I tried to start from the beginnig. But now at the repairing part I got a error when the program try to replace the NAND file. Thank you again Wilson |

Follow again this procedure: with the first part you must use the drivers of windows for the player... only then you must use the special drivers!!! However in the firmware folder must go the file RKFSWFRC and the 4 folders that contains all the firmware's file! In the firmware folder put the original firmware!! |
Re: RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
DIO mio Travis!!!!!!
It works!!!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes when the things doesn't go as we wish, we must take a break and drink some coffee. Anyway! without you and your tutorial Icould never get this done. God bless you. Thanks a lot Wilson |
here is a small tip
now the player is abck and running and you have the drivers installed 1. make a backup?? 2 in the restore kit folder is a small file called "setup.rkw", copy this to the root of the player and leave it there now, when, and yes, when, your player dies again, as my chap player does every few days all you need to do is plug the player in and windows will automatically see the hidden partition, just format it and copy over your saved files this works for me, now when the player dies i do not need to run and tools, just plug in, format and copy .. 2 mins :) |

I'm happy you are succeeded in this!! Quote:

no, not at all, my player has never been modded at all, and it dies very often of its own accord
these cheap players are very unstable, some of them, my player just dies, sometimes a wrongly encoded movie can bow the firmware partition away also, anything can, you do not have to be modding or to have opened the partition in any way for the player to fail |
