Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Hi All
Seller came back to me in very broken english with this answer "You must carry on the establishment first on MP5 PLAYER Then connects on TV The concrete establishment method, I will tell you" Which makes no sense at all, I tried to google any of the above but nothing relevent to my poblem comes up. Please anybody out there that can help will be doing a Dad a real favour. Tony |
Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Ok it looks like there is no one with the same problem????
I have dug around and all I can find is a setting on the MP5 player that refers to TVsignal - PAL or NSTC I have tried both ticked but still only sound blank screen. Come on guy's dont let me loose faith in the Forum community. Just a quick recap I have an MP5 with TV out function, cable supplied plugged into tv start film on player but I get a blank screen. Again any help or direction will help take this egg off my face. Tony |
There is no sureity that every MP5 or MP4 which the TV-OUT function in its software also do the TV-OUT too.I have noticed many MP4 and MP5 players which have the option of TV-OUT but that didn't work acctually. But i can tell you the procdure that first you connect the TV-OUT cable to the MP4 and the TV and then switch the TV-OUT to PAL mode not the NTSC.I think that will help and yes another thing is that if you are using the DV option and making the movie from your MP4 and want to see it on the TV through the TV-OUT then try to make the movie in lower mode like (320X240) or something like that dont make the moviein high resolution.

Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Thanks for that Zulu
I was assured it had tvout funtions, it came with the cable and all. Tried your fix but to no avail. Still only getting sound. If only there was a youtube demo or something. If anything jogs your memory and you think of something please let me know. Is there such a thing as a phone jack cable that ends with a hdmi Would that help? Thanks Tony |
Can you post images of your player and where you are connecting it in your player? Can you also post a picture of the cable that you have? If it's just plugged into the earphone jack of your player, then you will only get sound. There must be a specific TV out jack point.
Also, do you have a link to the product you bought? |
Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Hi Admin
Here is the link to who and where I bought the MP5 http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=350134138468 Only one hole which the ear phones go in so it looks like I have been sold a chocholate fire guard. Given up the ghost on this and bought a Creative zen W. its the same ole story you get what you pay for. Tony |
If it's just the earphone jack, then you will only get AUDIO unfortunately.
You need to get a Portable Media Player (PMP) insted for really good TV output but that's at a code. A lot of the MP4 players don't have TV output. |
Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
oilburner2,
The link that you gave appears to be very similar to the mp5 "Convert Free 3" 16:9 screen wTV-Out" that I recently purchased. It has the Ingenic JZ4725 CPU chip. On my mp5, there is only one jack, which is used for both earphone and the TV-out cable. To get TV-out to function, my mp5 has two settings in toolbox as follows: TVOUT standard: (You select either PAL or NTSC) TVOUT switch: (Off or Open) You simply select the TV standard used in your country ( either PAL or NTSC) and set the switch to open. The TV-out cable has the three RCA plugs which connect to your TV's video inputs (yellow is video; white and red are audio). The other end of the TV-out cable plugs into the earphone jack. Note that the mini-jack of the TV-Out cable has four conductors, not three like a normal earphone mini-plug. (see photo below) Now when you connect the TV-Out cable, you should get the video as well as the audio. Here is a pic of the TV-Out cable that came with my mp5 player. http://uploadingit.com/files/1013391...ut%20Cable.jpg Hope this helps you out. Is your player a Rockchip or JZ4725 ? To check, simply download the program ChipGenius v2.64 from this site and it will read the USB info, when you connect your player to your PC. Cheers |
Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Thanks Autofils
I have printed off your test and will try it tonight, I was sure I tried both PAL and NTSC but in the heat of the moment I might have tried the same one. Wish me luck. I will let you know the firmware etc... and let you know how I get on. Tony |
does the player actually have a button on the interface for tvout??
i know several people now who thought they had got t tv out player but did not as they look the same as the non tv version, seller just copies and pastes also on soome models pushing the power swich can activate tv out |

On my mp5, there is no physical button to switch to TV-Out. Instead, the TV-Out function is setup by the settings in the Toolbox Menu ( ie System settings) that I described in my previous posting, and you must use the TV-Out cable with the 4 conductor mini-plug, which is inserted into the mp5 player's earphone jack. There could very well be sellers, that falsely claim a TV-Out function. In that case, I guess you would have to carefully open the mp5 player, and examine the chips. My mp5 player has a Chrontel TV Encoder chip (CH7024B-DF) for the TV-Out function. here is a link for the datasheet... http://www.chrontel.com/pdf/7023-7024ad.pdf Here is a pic of the board layout of my mp5 player. http://uploadingit.com/files/1013684...PCB-Layout.jpg There are 7 chips in this mp5 player. TV Encoder: Chrontel CH7024B-DF CPU: Ingenic JZ4725 Flash memory: two 4GB chips (Samsung K9LBG80BUOM) Audio Amp (1watt) LM4890 ( smallest chip) Unknown ??: Is this for TFT screen display ? ( Markings look like .. 48LCAM10A1) FM Radio Function: SP3767 AHN If anyone can identify the Unknown ?? chip, please post a description. ...thanks |
Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Hi, I had same problem (on tv-out, only sound) and problem was that cable, it dosen't work correcly, somtimes it works, and somtimes it dont, try anothr cable.
also my tv out cable goes to head-phone jack. EDIT: and to get playr to tv-out mode: Go to main menu, and select options>TV mode>PAL(or NTSC) then go back to options menu and select TVSWITCH and select on and plug your tv-out cables to tv and then to your player, thats how it works on my mp5 player (product name: S400, major version ID: 3.0, hardware ID: RK2706) |
Re: Sound but no picture on TV output on MP5 player
Oilburner2,
Your player looks identical to mine. I also have a problem. I have sound but my video output is Black and White. My chipset is the Ingenic 4725 described by Autofils. Its driving me crazy if the player is defective or if I have a cabling problem. I live in the USA and have set the player to NTSC and other than the color problem, it looks OK. Have tried direct connect to my TV, through my VCR, a standalone VCR with A/V inputs etc. but nothing out with color. Communication with the vendor is frustrating. And now my TF card fell inside the player. It is still functional but I worry that it might short out ? Too much trouble sending it back. I'll have to check with Autofils to see if its too difficult to open the player as a last resort. I guess noone had this problem either. Seller has excellent reputation in Ebay. Did you get it working yet ? |
