Re: What is this mp4 player

Standard Actions-based player. Plays AMV format so you will have to convert your videos to .AMV format to play them on your player.

Look at the "MP3 Player Utilities" in the "Downloads" --> "Tools" section on the left hand side menu bar.

Re: What is this mp4 player?

Hi,
I had the exact same question (model) - so I felt pretty lucky to find the answer here. Except I don't care about playing the videos - just wanna play the mp3 files I have.
I downloaded the utilities as suggested - the About screen says I have Media Manager Version (c) 2007 Actions (it does not say the actual number but the download file suggested 10.00).

I tried dragging and dropping and synchronizing - and neither one had any impact on being able to play them on the player.
I am unable to play the majority of music transferred over - I see the title, artist, number, etc...but the play button has a black square over a green circle button, instead of a gray arrow over a green circle button. When I try to play the song - I get a nearly blank screen (blue) with a black rectangle (looks like it ought to contain text or something but doesn't) and then returned to play screen. I can forward through the songs, etc...but not play them. Help?

Can you please create a new post for your problem please? It's different from the original post so best to create a new post for your question.

Here is some Information I found on this player.
I was also stupid enough to think that the newer ones were advertised more honestly WRONG.
Its my belief that these are also only 2gb.
However here is how to get files on it that play correctly.
Format the player to Fat32
Now boot the player and use my computer to view the directories, You probably wont see anything except a blank drive.
Add Directories to the player starting with MUSIC then inside MUSIC, make sub Folders.
Like: Music
Album1
Album2
Album3
Now you can fill the Sub Folders with songs up to about 2gb.
NOTE the Folders will NOT show up on the MP3 until you add a song to them. Although they do show in my computer.
The Sub Folders will be in Alphabetical order.

Important: This player recognizes the order that you install the sub folders and songs into it. In other words The first sub folder that you put in with a song will be the first in the mp3 player. The last will be the last when viewing the MP3 player screen.
So if you use the following example:
Menu, Album1, Album2, Album3
Then you copy songs into Album1, then 2 then 3 all will be ok. You can also copy the albums with songs into the player.
If you later add Album4 all is ok, but if you add Album2A it will be the last in the mp3 player order after Album4. NOT in Alphabetical order. It will however show in my computer in Alphabetical order.
You can add videos the same way. First make a Videos Directory than add something in it, otherwise it will not show up. The same for all the menu titles.
If you do this in this order it will work correctly.

NOTE: If you go much over 2gb you will get a blue screen with a black rectangle when you try to play the songs that occupy the over 2gb limit.
More: If you go over 2gb you may get double triple or more entries in your directories as viewed with my computer, but on the MP3 you only see one file and you really only have 1 file.
More: When copying files onto the mp3 remember that the order is the order they show in the mp3 player. I copied a audio book from my computer to the mp3 by selecting select all but when it copied it started with the last file and thats the order its shows on the mp3 but in my computer it shows correct. There is a way to do that also, start by clicking the last file then with ctrl delete select the first then when copying they will copy starting with the first to the last.

9/05/09 More: Today I did a low level format as per the instructions on this site and set the encrypted partition to 0 and now I get a 4gb drive in the disk utilities program, although windows still reports it to be 8gb after formatting.
PROBLEM: Now I get disk error even though I can put songs on the player and play them from my computer the mp3 player doesnt work anymore. So Don't do the LL format.

The descriptions of the problems, i.e. "double triple or more entries in your directories" and "go much over 2gb you will get a blue screen with a black rectangle" sound a great deal like my problem. I will split the player up into 8 2GB Folders - hopefully that will resolve my problem.

Well, sigh...another format FAT32 Quick - I made 8 folders using MSDOS conventions 8 char, no special chars, etc: A-thru-C D-thru-F, etc...dropped various folders of artists in the 8 different folders taking care not to put more than 2 GB (typically just about .5 GB or even less). And when I go through them on the player - they are still showing the play button with a black square over it and if I try to play them blue screen with a black rectangle. I had originall thought when I read this I would partition the drive (which I may not have mentioned is 16GB) into 8 drives but it seems you cannot partition usb drives without a lot of fooling around. Does anyone have any other suggestions on this?

If you have the one in this discussion then you screwed it up doing a partition.
Here is how to fix it: Use the disk tool and set the encrypted partition to 6201mb that should leave you with 1962mb left. Then do a format with the same tool, then do a windows format. You should now be left with a single drive of 1.962gb. If you set the encrypted partition to anything bigger than 6201 you will get a disk error. I tried many, many different sizes, thats the only size that worked.

Well, no, I said I could not partition a USB drive without a lot of fooling around. So from all the reading I've done - I gather these players only have 2 gb storage? I'll try the disktool. Thanks.
