Can't play WAV files

I have a Chinese made touchscreen 2.8" MP4 no brand. I tried to load some WAV files onto it and I get the message "WARNING File Format Error" The specifications say it should play WAV files.
Does anyone know how to do this without converting them?

Hi aklister,

It would be better for you if you convert the .wav files to .wma or .mp3 files instead as that will save you a lot of disk space.

WAV files are large and you are better off compressing it to .WMA or .MP3 instead and your player should play them fine.

There are a lot of free/open source converters available that will do that for you. There are some in the [Downloads] section of our site as well under "Tools".

I agree with converting them but why cant I play WAV files. Converting takes time and messing around with files. I want to be able to drag and drop them. Do they need to be a special format?

Can you send us the link to where you bought it from? Perhaps they've made a mistake in the description? I haven't tried WAV files on my players because I've always used MP3's instead.

Re: Can't play WAV files

I think this player is similar to my Rockchip RK2608,
because it has 2.8" screen too and has the same problem.

I know the answer! 8)
It's all because of your specific music file.
To make it perfect playable, you must convert it
to get the same properties as your sample file.
For example, if you had 1 .wma , 1 .mp3 and 1 .wav files on your player,
convert some other files on your computer to turn them into similar to player's.

Yes, you may not do it always, but in that case it all depends from your luck.
