[solved] Mini SD card not Read by my MP4

I have an MP4 from a Chinese brand Ramos.Model RM600Le that supports Mini SD card upto 2GB.So I got a PNY Mini SD Card of 2GB for it, but the problem is that the MP4 does not read the card.Although it detects it but when I try to open it, it freezes for 5-10 seconds and then takes me to the contents of the flash memory. The memory card works fine when I insert it in the Memory card reader of my laptop. The player is basically a Rockchip.

Hello,
First - > Try if it works with another card ( borrow some from a friend )

If yes -> Sorry you gotta buy other

If not -> You better give it back to the seller

Isn't there any configuration to be made in the Memory Card like some formatting or creating a folder that the player reads? As I have seen in some other players.

Re: Mini SD card not Read by my MP4

Hello!
I am not a professional, but the first thing I do with a purchased card, is to farmat it. Try it, I hope it will work!

I would agree with the previous answers.

1. Try FORMATTING your card firstly.
2. Try a different card.
3. Try a LOWER capacity card such as a 512MB card instead. Some players can not detect large memory cards such as 2GB or 4GB cards.

Try that and let us know of the result.

What File System Shall I use to format the Card?
FAT or FAT32?

admin 31st Jan 2009 4:56 am

Depends on the size of it.
Newer players now should take FAT32 fine while the older ones will only work with FAT. Try FAT32 then FAT if it doesn't work :).

Let us know how you get on.

I have tried formatting the Card with both FAT and FAT32 but still the player does not read the card.Any other idea?

What memory size of your card?

Can you try a smaller size card instead? Such as 512MB or 1GB card? The smaller the better as some players will not recognise large capacity memory cards.

Hey guys just updated the Firmware of my MP4 and Miraculously The Card started working. Thanks for the help.

admin 31st Jan 2009 10:12 pm

WOW!
What firmware did you use? Did it come with your player or did you extract it or download it from somewhere?

I haven't seen that solution before. Quite a big risk updating your player's firmware but I'm glad it's working!

Groovy 1st Feb 2009 5:13 am

Hello please upload the firmware and let us know more about your mp4

Groovy 3rd Feb 2009 4:39 am

ZILAN : DONT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE !!!!!

Do you have a firmware wich came with the player on a CD or something ?

HAve you tried what we suggested UP in this topic ? Read all and let us know...

zilan 4th Feb 2009 3:06 am

@Groovy
why?
no i don't have firmware that came with my player.
i've tried format my sd hc to FAT System but still card error.

admin 4th Feb 2009 4:41 am

zilan,

Using an incompatible firmware for your player will render your player DEAD. So as well as the memory card not working, you'll also have a dead player.

Have you tried another card?
What about trying a smaller capacity card like a 1GB or 512MB card to see if that works or not.

zilan 5th Feb 2009 5:36 am

thanks admin for ur answer ...

do u have compatible firmware for my mp4 player?

regarding to chip genius v2.64 my chipset is :

PnP Device ID: VID = 10D6 PID = 1101
Serial Number: A00000600001
Revision: 1.00/1.00

Device Type: Standard USB device - USB2.0 High-Speed

Chip Vendor: Actions
Chip Part-Number: ATJ209X/ACU75XX

my firmware version now is mp3 player BKSD1512_20 2007-06-01 9.1.51.

yes, i have tried another sd card and it's only works for 1GB. 2GB above doesn't work for my player. :(

i want to make my player support high capacity sd card ex 4 GB.

makd511 5th Feb 2009 6:49 am

you can not update the player, the firmwares were never developed and no way of knowing, either way, no support for these older chips beyond 2gb and no other firmware will give you this

sorry
