Updating firmware on Rockchip?

Hi, I just received my 2.8" 4gig rockchip player, I don't know the model, that would be helpful.

I'm having trouble getting the firmware upgrade to work.

I'm using Vista 32, I can plug the device in, and upload and download to the onboard 4 gig flash memory fine.

The problem was, when I'd turn the device to upgrade, and THEN plug it into the computer, Vista couldn't recognize it.

I downloaded the rockchip usb drivers for vista someone posted here, and now it recognizes the device when device is in upgrade mode, however it won't recognize it as a removable drive, which I guess is normal.

I have downloaded Refresh Firmware (consumer update?) v 3.1.2

When I use the upgrade tool that came on the cd, it just crashes when it opens, which is why I'm using the 3.1.2 program.

It loads fine, but it wants me to open an rfw file (from the device I'm assuming)

However, when I plug the device in normally, I can not find the firmware file, and when when it's plugged in in upgrade mode, I can't search on it, because it's not a removable drive?

What am I doing wrong?

I just realized that perhaps the rfw file is located on my computer, and then I just click update and that should do it, so I'm searching for an rfw file now.

Sorry to say there are no updates for unbranded Rockchip players, just a very high chance of bricking it!

from my experience you should do that on a xp-platform. You can't install the drivers on a vista pc for the installer does not recognize the inf-files
