Default dark contrast LCD on new rockchip player - HELP?...

Hi,
I Just got a new 4GB rockchip player. http://www.eazzydeal.com/detail.asp?...8&Pdtid=267006

Its great but there is a problem with the LCD: when i look at it directly or a bit tilted left it darkens and looks like when you look at an LCD from the side. Really awful, but then if I tilt it a bit right it looks just fine. So looking directly is bad tilted aside left gets even worse but tilting right fixes the problem even if its tilted all the way right... By the way tilting up and down it looks fine. its just direct and left...

I played with the options and there is nothing that helps.

I was thinking maybe a firmware update can fix this although it might be a faulty screen thing...
As it is a no name PMP there is no site for firmware updates.

the system info shows:
product name: RK27SDK
Major version: 2.2
Hardware id: 080722

Anyone got any ideas about how to fix this annoying issue.

I contacted the ebayer who sold me but I don't expect to get an answer...

Thanks!

firmware wont fix this problem at all and though there are many players around that look like this they are not the same#

either the backlight is dodgy or its just a really cheap ass scren with seriously bad viewing angles

some players i have had had this issue, they were just really cheap and nasty

try for a replacement, if the dont respond threaten with paypal claim

CSTN has optimal viewing direction. Please observe when using.

Thanks for the responses

Makd511 - Aside from that the player is really (surprisingly) good. As for paypal - im still awaiting them to refund me on a toy I didn't get from China - they really don't help and are useless.

Lolita, what is CSTN?.....
When I view it a bit righter than normal it looks swell...

i have always forun paypal claims work well, even just as a prompt to the seller, keep hassling them and they will sort it

as for your screen, well if u can manage then so be it, what happens when you change the brightness setting, is the effect the same still or less so etc

Well i put the brightness on the maximum setting. But the big difference is between highly lighted scenes in movies and darker scenes. When its dark the effect is terrible - Just tried to watch Heroes the latest episode which had a lot of dark and gritty and not so interesting scenes. It looked horrid. And for that I blame the Chinese and the Heroes screenwriters
I already sent a request for replacement - I am quite sure he will refuse or have me pay for all the extra post etc...

That is normal for CSTN. Observe 6 o clock viewing direction.
