How to extract firmware 9 and up.

Hi I'm a new be and totally out of date so a helping hand could not be wrong.
I just bought a 16GB mp4 player and I was happy just to have the memory attached of 16GB, however after putting a few AMV file I got a format error.so I suggest to formatted with Win XP. after I formatted I was able to load MP3 and AMV file, but did't notice the memory is increased to 2GB.
Before this toy will end up in an unusable piece of sand and plastic, I want to extract the firmware just in case.
Now how can I extract it and how can I modified or restore the firm-ware.

Hello there, as state Lolita, you must use S1Clone, but S1Clone will be able only to make a backup of your firmware, the firmware can't be etracted and the result file can't be used to firmware modifications.

Reading your problem is very like you have a hacked player you shuld follow the guide "How To: Removing Memory Hack " http://mympxplayer.org//how-to-remov...ck-vt2400.html How To Remove Memory Hack This procedure is very safe the only harm could be you get less memory, you can contact the saller to inform this and get a refund.

Hello, which version of firmware do you have?

royalprince 8th Aug 2009 12:20 am

Hey guys,

Since there is no guide to extract the latest Action Semiconductors Ltd. 9.1.54 Firmware marketed and used by Wilson Co.

Here are the steps to download firmware:

Step 1 : Download s1res from the link below:
http://www.s1mp3.de/dl/s1res_v41_win32_setup.exe

Step 2 : Install s1res v4.1 in your PC (if asked for driver confirmation) click
on continue anyway

Step 3 : Connect your Device (Player) to PC using the USB connector

Step 4 : Open s1res, Click on File>Import Firmware

Step 5 : Save the firmware to the selected destination

Step 6 : Wait for s1res to extract and save the firmware and open it up.

Step 7 : Once opened save the firmware once again using File>Save As

Step 8 : Upload the firmware and kindly update me as well.

Hope it works out for you. My player is dead so I desperately need this firmware.

Regards.....
Prince

Thanks for your advice but s1clone did not work. Are there any other downloadable programs to try? Could it be that my player is too new on the market so maybe thats why the firmware of my player is 9.5.54 and the firmware version you were referring to was 9.1.54 is the reason it won't work. Should I wait until a newer version of s1clone becomes available for more recent versions of the firmware I need?

thanks

is it true that you need to use a computer that has a usb 2.0 port to extract the firmware with? My computer only has a USB 1.1 port so it did not work. I thought the difference between the 2 types of USB ports only relates to the speed o fthe port itself. Am I wrong? Why does speed has so much to do with extracting firmware from a chip pod?

thanks

Ted
