What's the name of this MP3/MP4 Player?

Hi,

I just bought a MP3/MP4 Player from ricardo.ch (something similar to ebay) but I don't know what's its name. The seller doesn't know it either...

It looks quite similar to the Onda VX747, the menu's looking similar too. It has a camera too, so I don't know what player it is... I think it has a Rockchip Chip inside, because when I connected it to my computer it shows "Rockchip MP3 Player"...

Is it maybe possible to use a Onda VX747 Firmware for my player?

Here are some pics, comparing the very similar Onda VX747 and my player:

The menu's the same except that there's a camera icon...

Maybe somebody of you has got the same player or can help me to find out which player it is.

Thank You

P.S: I read this thread: http://mympxplayer.org/viewtopic.php?p=50347 but it's not the same player as shown in the pictures there..

EDIT: I found a Vid on YouTube: It's exactly the same player: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX8xg...eature=related

Thank you for your answer, so there isn't any possible way to change the firmware?

If I open my player and show you a picture of the mainboard so you can see which chips are built in etc. is it then possible to say which firmware I have to use?

Thank You Again!

no need, just go into settings menu and locate the system info entry and tell us the details

basically if your player is like the one i linked and the last image you have shown then we can say right away - no possibility of any other firmware,

basically if there is no known brand name on it you can not update the firmware

as you can see alot of these players look alike, but they are not, china has zillions of "factories", these range from sweat shops to someones front room, and so players come from all over and though they may look the same are often not

unbranded players like these are not supported, definitely not updated and you only need look round the forum to see how many broken players there have been from people trying to update firmware as they found a player that "looked like theirs"

in short leave well alone, dont open the player, just enjoy it for as long as it lasts, start messing and you will have a nice paper weight on your hands

cheers

Argh, I can't belive it... Hmm ok well but I can't belive that if there's a "Firmware Update" function and a "Firmware Update Tool" it isn't possible to update it :-) That makes no sense to me...

I asked the seller for the firmware, if he hasn't got it, or if it breaks my player I'll send it back, get my money back and buy an ORIGINAL Onda VX747..

Does anybody know a good (!) site where to buy the Onda VX747?

Thanks a lot

remember these players are made by the bucket load for a quick sale only, that is all and one of the general functions of the rockchip player is "firmware updates" so yes, the player can do updates but there are none to do it with

thje 747 was a good player but ingenics and chinachip solution that they used is dead now as is the support for that player, its quite old now for a cjhinese pmp

i would have alook at what is available, there are better player

fancy a 5" screen player :)

but the onda vx777le is better, but it depends what you want it for mainly audio or video

and do not update the firmware and then try to send it back or they will refuse you, especially if you have contacted them already they will know and refuse

just send it back if you want something more supported and modable

Hmm, I want to have a player which supports a lot of file formats so I don't have to convert everything. I want to use it for videos so it has to have a memory of at least 16GB. It shouldn't be bigger than a PSP so it fits well in a pocket.

Hmm, the vx777le isnt' bad but maybe a bigger screen size like 4.3'' would be better.

Do you now a player which has a big screen, but isn't to big and which supports a lot of file formats?

Thank you again!!!

the current 27 series rockchips are good and support alot of formats but they still can not really truly do a no conversion, drop on the player, there will be problems

there are new players coming out from all the big names that are using the new chinachip chip and thsese are a lot more forgiving

ainol v3000HD
onda vx535HD (4.3" 16 million color 800x480)

and many others too with this chip and they are looking good but i will never say no conversion is needed because of the pure fact that vids come in so many different formats and setting that NO player will ever be able to claim drop n play

mp4nation will have the ainol v3000HD very soon and the vx545HD is about as big as the psp, in fact see for yourself a member on mp4nation forums has created a 3d model kit for size comparisons

see here for the PDF download

Thanks for the information again!

I just sent back my player and the seller told me that he'll give me the firmware.

Now that I'll have the firmware, is it possible to change the icons etc. with "RKLogoEdit"?

Thank you for your answers and your help!

makd511 19th Feb 2009 2:14 pm

you can only change the icons etc if you are 1000% sure you have the right firmware, you will need to use the tools to manually search for the images, it aint easy and ages since i moded an older system like these
