Player only recognizes 47, clock not set, radio won't play
I am not only new to this forum but new to mp3 players (believe it or not). I bought an 8GB IPod look alike on ebay. The seller was honest that it was a knock off with generic software but I still expected it to work. The unit looks just like an ipod with "Ipod" Apple logo and serial numbers on it. However it is not functioning smoothly. I don't know if I got ripped off or am just too igonorant to operate it properly. I do have a little tech ability but I've never worked with mp3's before. The firmware loaded in is "QSD_1307 2008-12-31 9.1.54 2005-01-09" .
Here are the issues: (1.) The unit will not display all the songs I have loaded. I loaded 67 so far but the player only recognizes 47. (2.) The clock will not set. The date will, but time will not. (3.) The Radio will not play. The sation frequency will display but not play. Have I been jipped, or is this operator error or do I need to up grade the firmware? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
Re: Newbie w/ Basic Questions - Please be patient
Hi bdjohns,
Reading from the problems you mentioned, I think you may have a HACKED player. This is where the player has been hacked to show more memory (8GB) than what is physically installed in the player (it may actually on be 4GB instead). Have a look at this post here: How To: Removing Memory Hack. Follow the instructions in there and see if that clears the hacked memory from your player. Let us know of the result once you've done that. Then try loading your player with songs and see if that problem still happens or magically gets resolved? Look forward to hearing from you. |

Open it up and read the ID of the NAND flash. That is the most accurate way to determine what capacity you have.
