Re: IPOD 8Gb

Bad data lines in the USB cable. Try a different cable.

Also, you may want to open it up and check the part number of the flash to make sure that it really is 8GB, otherwise you could corrupt the firmware by overwriting if you try copying 8GB of data to a flash that is really smaller in size. A pair of *BG* or a single *CG* (e.g. K9HCG08U0M) will be 8GB, anything else means it's not.

Ok, i will tryt o change the cable...
Anyway with this possible corrupt cable i was able to charge the battery...

Thanks for the answering, and i didn't understood these phrase:
"A pair of *BG* or a single *CG* (e.g. K9HCG08U0M) will be 8GB, anything else means it's not".
Please explain....

Thanks

Re: IPOD 8Gb

Here is a 16GB player with a pair of K9HCG08U1M (8GB each):

If your player is really 8GB, it may have a single CG or two BGs (4GB each).

No. Extract a backup with s1res and keep for future recovery. Do NOT try any sort of upgrade.

A faulty USB cable can have a faulty pin, which means that it will charge your battery but that faulty pin means your computer can't read from it so therefore doesn't recognise your player as being connected. Try another USB cable and see if that helps solve your problem.
