SQEEEK, please, can you explain what you mean with 'set it to only let the 'normal' partition show up'? How do you do that?

I went from having a problematic mp3 player to have a piece of metal :( Don't want to dismantle the player, I tried but seems hard and don't want to end with the pieces of my hands if it can be solved by software.

What can I do to fix the problem? Please

Firmware is:
2008/09/05
9.5.54
QS_AK2025
2008/04/23
Sorry I didn't explain it very clearly the first time, i was kind of tired. ;) i'll try again.

In the disk partition tool, drag the slider all the way to the right.
Then format your device. (make sure you select 'full' format) Now, when you plug it in, it should have a big disk and a little disk. The big should be about 7900mb, and the little disk should be about 17mb. Put an mp3 file on the little disk, and see if the player will find it. Let me know what you find out, and i'll go from there.

I can see little

Followed your instructions and can see the 17mb one and if copy a file player can read it.

I was playing with the settings in the player and there is one called 'Online Mode'. Depending on the value you set it in the player Windows and the Mp3 Tool can see one or both partitions. But think is little bit random, this player is not very unreliable :(

Waiting for instructions...

Okay. Now, move the slider a tiny bit to the left, and do a full format again. then copy the mp3 file over and try it out.

If it works, move the slider more to the left, format it again, and test it again.
Just keep doing that until it stops seeing the file. From my experience, i bet that it will stop working when the Normal partition gets bigger than 1gb. :) good luck

Also, you're right, in the 'online mode' menu, you can tell the player which partitions to show. I set mine to Normal, because i didn't want to see the other partition, since the other partition is just fake memory anyway.

You are right

Yes, you are right, over 1 GB player stops seeing the partition. :(

Tam! The guy from Hong Kong that was selling these pseudo-iPods disappeared. I was not very fan of eBay but after this experience, much less. If ever again buy anything from eBay never from Hong Kong. Learned my lesson for today.

Thanks Sqeeek!
