Need source for microminiature switches for MP player
Hi all,
I recently came back from a trip to China and picked up a 2G (truly is) MP"5" player. It looks just like this one: http://mympxplayer.org/pafiledb/imag...7954392mp5.jpg Here are the components I saw inside: CPU: Rockchips RK2705/6 It's really difficult to tell which chip this is (Apparently, quality control sucks when it comes to the printing of chip info). I did some searching for info on this and 1st came across a website (Fuzhou Rockchips Electronics - Fuzhou Rockchip Electronics Co., Ltd?) which listed a few of the rockchips mentioned on this forum, but no RK2705. I searched more and eventually came across an actual datasheet (Which mentions nothing about Fuzhou but does reference Rock-Chips) for the RK2705 whose history cover page said it was released in Feb 2009, but was preliminary (I mention this because someone somewhere on this forum said the chip didn't exist. Someone else said it was an older version of the RK2706). On my printed circuit board, there is a larger square "perimeter" of pads around this chip which makes it look like a larger chip could be installed...maybe a RK2706, maybe something else (there are other pads which have no chips installed...one of which looks to be for another flash memory device). Flash Memory: Samsung K9GAG08U0M This is a 16Gbx1 (2GBx8) NAND flash memory device "Working memory": 8x16SDRAM (That's all it says :( I assume this is a memory used by the device for executing firmware (faster) and or variable storage FM Stereo: SP3767 This is similar to a STMicro FM stereo chip. I bought this unit in Shenjen, China at the big market in Lohu. I went with someone who knew some of the shop owners and spoke fluent Mandarin, so the unit I got is a good working unit (well, was until I messed with it :(. As an aside, one of the things I found out, since I was with someone who was a good customer, is that for unsuspecting folks, if you buy a flash device (for camera, MP player, etc.), you can end buying a trashed chip. Just a caveat for anyone planning to do this. What I've learned in my few forays into this very different culture is that laws, rules, regulations, lines in the road, red lights, memory capacity, etc. are only suggestions of what might possibly be reality. I say this both in jest and as a warning in light of the people who claim they've been ripped off with less than advertised flash memory capacity. I will upload pix of the circuit board when I get my camera working right. I will also upload my firmware as soon as I have the unit working again... ...which brings me to my question: anyone know where to get some of those microminiature tactile switches they use in this product? The specific ones I'm trying to find are surface mount, right angle (used under the button on the top of the unit) and just less than 5mm wide, ~1.8mm high and ~2mm deep (as I said, very small). I damaged one (not hard to do given the "stellar" quality :( when I opened the case and tried to put it back together (how do they do that at the factory when they build these things?) Anyway, thanks in advance for any help Cheers and a great site(!!!)...Steph |
Re: micromin tactile switches....plus
I am responding to my own posting ;)
I contacted a company in China that actually sent me some samples of these mircoswitches (now I have xtras if I mess up again). Installed and am now up and running. Here's the company website in case someone else needs help: http://www.toneparts.com The device I used is TP-1100A or TP-1100E (Based on the specs, the difference seems ot be mostly in the color of the button). I have another question....I have no idea who developed the firmware in my MP5. When I go to System Info all I get: Major Version ID: 2.2 Hardware ID: 080722 (This looks like a date code) Local memory Size: (Used and Total) Card memory Size: (Used and Total) I have no information on manufacturer of the device nor on who wrote the firmware (Big surprise). Has anyone else run into this and do you have any insight? I did try to retrieve a copy of the firmware using s1fwx but have been unable to do so. I've read that some players cannot be accessed using this app. Anyone have any suggestions on this? I'll try again in case I did something wrong. Thanks in advance...Steph Quote:

For Rockchip players, follow the other firmware extraction procedure in one of the pinned threads here or in the next board over (Dead Players).
