Backing up firmware

Im new to this mpx player stuff so excuse my ignorance. As i gather from this website it is best when buying a mpx player to backup the firmware in case it dies. So what should i do to backup this firmware. Should i follow this guide? http://mympx.org/forum/knowledge-bas...p4-player.html

Use s1res v4.1 to extract the firmware. Note that this procedure is currently not working for the newest v11 devices, so it may be best to avoid them for now; a solution is being researched.
