My player has stopped playing videos and now music
 

I have a player that has stopped playing any videos and now music,if I try videos the MP4 hangs and needs reswetting.I looked at this site and thought as I got no replies that maybe it is a firmware problem.I then downloaded the S1fwx tool to extract the firmware and repair but vista will not open the file.As I am a bit thick when it comes to computers and the like can someone explain it to me in laymans terms.I also note that people with more up to date touchscreen MP4's have trouible with it as well can you help.
