Did you have any luck getting an Id on your player? I have a similar mode and l I was able to get mine working by using the Disk tool and setting my Encrypted disk capacity to 7146 (which originally said 8170), effectively making my player a 1gb (8170 - 1024)

I'm trying to pin down the exact memory size, i think its actually 1gb but i can't seem to find a datasheet This is an 8gb nano (3rd gen) spoof with a Samsung chip that says:

SAMSUNG 934
K9GAG08U0D
PCB0

FNG565MAC

Anyone know what size it is officially?

Just an Update, my player is actually 2gb and there's a good chance yours is too. Using the MP3 player disc tool, the most I can squeeze from it is 1.92GB by sliding the encrypted disk capacity to 6200mb - any more than that and I get a disc error. That gives me about 1970mb from the original quoted 8170.

A quick guide:
Open the Disc tool and set the FORMAT TYPE option to LOW.
In the Partition and Encryption tab, slide the slider to 6200mb (my total "capacity" was originally 8170).
Once its done, close the disc tool and then format your drive in Windows Explorer using FAT32

Test your player by trying to open a data file. I just kept sending one song over to it after I formatted it.
If you got a disc error, you'll have to slide the slider over to right some more and repeat the process until you find your magic number. You may also have a 4GB, and if so you can slide the slider further to the left and your number should be closer to 4100ish.

Good luck
