I am having difficulty Dehacking

Ok. First off, the specs.
It is a reported 32GB sold to me from Kinhome88 (already reported to sell hacked Mp3 players, this one specifically is reported to hold only up to 4GB)
I have downloaded the Mp3 DiskTool version 1.0.0.1.
I am running on Vista. (its a Compaq)

When I run the Mp3 DiskTool I can find my Mp3 player in the drop down menu but it still says there is no removable disk when I start up the utility. On top of which, it doesn't display the hacked memory or the actual memory.

What do I do? I would like to Dehack this one so I remember to not accidentally push my luck and end up with a fried player.

Thanks ever so much.

been having a similar problem with my 32GB as well. From what I can tell, the hack is tricky to remove because the MP3 players firmware is designed to reformat itself without the need of a PC. So in this case, the firmware is probably designed to have some safeguards around that memory that's making it unreadable to the reformating/partitioning program. That's a guess on my part.

Rockchip MP3 not recognized by Utilities program

Likewise, I have a problem.. have a 3" touchscreen mp3 player with fake memory ("32Gb" - actually 4Gb)
has Rockchip RK2705 controller.
memory chip says "S" FBNL63A51K3PG (Toshiba?) - somewhere there was a cross reference to AMECO MW6208E?

but the MP3 utilities disk management won't see the drive, although Windows does. I can copy files to it, but would like to "unhack" the beast so at least I have a proper 4Gb player..
Anyone have a solution?
By the way, it came (Ebay) from "cypress_network" - China.. so beware of those idiots.

tried to open mine, but i'm having difficulty because of the screws set up. Have no idea how to properly open this one up with damaging it badly, from what I can see. Upon lifting thecase, the back and harddrive area sticks to it, and I can't fully remove the cover without snapping the plastic, unlike some Mp3 players, there aren't all plastic hooks olding it down, just partialy, seems to be stick by two fixed internal platyic gholders that are cylender in shape.

This isn't something modified by hand at all from what I can tell, so it's an exclusively software based hack unlike those few that require a harddrive alteration or piece blockign the connection. Also explains why the firmware is so much more unstable then the last hacked Mp3 player I ran into.

MP3 Hack

I think they're primarily software hacks. Mine for instance, is not a bad MP3 player, good sound, nice features, but they had to make more money by lying about its capacity. Greed is all that is.
So they have a utility program that resets the chip to say "32Gb" rather than the 4 it should report - so if you exceed 4Gb of data, it overwrites the RAM and screws up royally.
Therefore, someone needs to find that utility for each MP3 player hacked, so we can at least enjoy the 4Gb player that it is.

Well I've had some luck. If you noticed most of the Ebay sellers refuse to list the name of the manufacturer of this product. Of course this is done to prevent research on our part to realize the product is a scam. Well I found one of them, and recently most fo the forum posts have had a huge number of these hard to "repair" chinese made mp3/mp4 players.

One of the manufacturers of these often hacked products is called "Winait Technologies limited". Another is "Accen Technology Co. Limited"

Their website is here: http://www.winait.com/ as well as http://www.accenhk.com/ respectively

Check the lists and see if any of yor players match this one. If you do, check the specs on that baby. My MP3 player was not part of these listed (despite the simularities in software) but a good number fo you Do have one of these busted products here. They do have a contact number and such, and an english speaker it seems. BUT, there are no downloads or product support like drivers and updates to your products.
So unless you're willing to shell out a good deal of money to long distance call them over China/Hong Kong (Unless you use Skype that is). We are still at a defeated position. If you do discover something, please share with the rest of us as usual. I'll try and hunt down other manufacturers.
