AK2025 FW ver 9.5.54 Disk Error

I am having the same problem that this person had: AK2025 FW ver 9.5.54 Disk Error
(my Chipod has the same specifications as the person in that post, but not the exact same problem)

Ever since I got this player, when I copy songs from my PC to the player, it duplicates the songs 3, 4, or 5 times. I have formatted the drive several times (using the DOS command for format). Each time I was able to put songs back on it and play the songs.... DOS confirms that it has 8,096,516 KB available.

Today, I read the instructions here to remove the memory hack (How To: Removing Memory Hack) because it was suggested that you do so if "Your player duplicates the music/video files that you add to it."... So, I followed the instructions. Seemed to have no problems and no errors.

I put a song on there and try to listen to it or try to see if it will duplicate itself and got "DISK ERROR!" on every menu other than "Setup" and "Radio".

(That's when my problem started looking like the other person's problem that originally posted AK2025 FW ver 9.5.54 Disk Error.

When I go to "Memory Info" under set-up, it now displays 0% (for usage) and 00M (available). Where it says 00M, it used to say the actual memory that was available. Something happened to the memory when I used the tool as suggested in the sticky.

I can copy files on the player with the PC, and the PC sees the mp3s, but the player does not.

Yes I know, I had this error too. There is already an existing solution: The Programm is called "bootit" and you habe to "Flip the bit" of your drive..that is enough.

Download this software: Lexar USB Flip the Removable Media Bit Tool | Portable USB Pen Drive Applications
On Vista: Run as Administrator
Then connect you player, choose it on the list. Set Partition: 'active'!
Click "Flip Removable Bit"
Wait a second or two then there comes a window, that it is ready .
Now you can plug the player out and you finished!

I know, bootit only helps the player to read the player's memory again instead of "Disk error!". The memory is faked too hard to be removed because the chip is too new and the software is not able to do it by now! You only can use you 1,8 GB so watch carefully that you are not adding more!

The player only recognizes 17M (with the drives partitioned). If the drives are not partitioned, then I get a disk error. I did not get the disk error until I partitioned the drives. I was trying to fix the problem of getting duplicates when I loaded MP3s onto the player.

When I start BootIt, my F: shows up on devices.
Capacity -267MB
Vendor: Action
Product: HS USB FlashDisk

When I click "Flip Removable Bit", I get the message "Drive Successfully changed. Please re-insert for changes to take effect."

Then, on the player, I still get the Disk Error.

Solution for this MP3 player:


1. Run H2test to find out how much memory you actually have. (in my case, actual memory was 1.8G) Download H2test

2. Check to see how much fake memory you have. I used the MP3 Player Disk Tool. It said that I have 7924MB on the drive. Download MP3 Player Utilities. (The MP3 Player Disk Tool will be in the Mp3 Player Utilities.)

3. Convert the (actual memory) 1.8GB to MB. Conversion Calculator (This will require a little math). Subtract your actual memory from the memory that is represented (fake memory).
7924 MB - 1843 MB = 6081 MB

4. In your MP3 player, go to Menu, , Set Up, Online Mode, Multi Drive. You will need your PC to recognize multiple drives because you are about to partition the drive (which will make 2 drives.) You will need to see both drives.

5. In the MP3 Player Disk tool, select the drive you want to partition. (In my case, it was drive F).
a. On Format type, click Low
b. On the "partition and encrypt" slide the scale to the number you previously calculated. In my case, I slid the slider as close to 6081 MB as possible.
**You can go over the calculated number, but you cannot go under the calculated number. (If you make the drive too big, it will not work because you have exceeded the actual capacity of the drive.)

6. Hit the "start" button. You will get a message when the partition is complete.


When the partition is complete, you may have 1 drive that is FAT and 1 drive that is RAW. If your drive is RAW, your MP3 player will not recognize the drive and will render the "DISK ERROR!" message. Check to see if you still get a "DISK ERROR". If so, complete the following steps. (Don't worry, you are almost done.)

Follow these instruction to correct the error:
1. Figure out which is the fake drive and which is the real drive. In my case, E is the real drive and F is the fake drive. (Prior to the partition the player always showed up as the F drive.)

2. Go to your DOS window. (Windows format just would not cut it. You have to use DOS.) Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt (in XP).

3. When you see the C:\ if your real drive is drive E, type this FORMAT E: /FS:FAT32

4. This command should format your actual drive to Fat32. Your player should now recognize your actual drive. Check your cracked Chipod to see if you still get a disk error. This is what it took to get mine back from reading disk error.

5. After all your changes and you have confirmed which drive is the actual drive and which is the imposter, you can change the online mode back to Normal instead of multi-drive. (This way the imposter drive no longer shows up when you plug your mp3 player into your PC.)

Sorry about all the steps. I have been searching on the web for a few days and everyone says that existing software does not fix this particular cracked MP3.

Again, my seller's name was yuanhuaii and I have posted a link to the description of my MP3/MP4 player that was supposed to be a 8GB player in the 1st post of this thread.

My 8GB MP4 (bought from China) turned out to be 2GB.

I have spent the last 3 evenings trying various fixes to this problem of Disk Error... which I caused in the first place by following someones internet advice on how to get XP to show the correct disk size! I had found that when I exceded 2GB of music/video files the data would become corrupt.

The post from terceslil worked like a charm........ however,

1. H2test would only show 8GB on my player
2. I went through the process a few times before I got it to work..... I adjusted the slider on the MP3 Player Utilities to ever increasing values until it worked. I think 6201MB was the lowest value that worked. That left me with 1.91GB once I had completed the process.

I think every chipod is 2gb!! I got 2 from Ebay that were suppose to be 8gb and they both turned out to be 2gb and for what I paid for them it was still a deal. The point is why hack the memory? Just sell them for what they really are.....
