PROBLEM TO REMOVE AN MP4 hacking
 

I hope I can help because they do not, I have found is that the memory is only 2GB with H2TESTW program, not 16GB as I said the Chinese, but that's another subject, I read that before spoil, you can remove the hack it has with the MP3 Player Disk Tool, I have completed the steps, but the problem comes when I am going to reformat from windows XP that only lets me format it in FAT32 and FAT will not leave me because she says capidad that is great, I've tried also by the cmd, but it says the same. I tried reformatting the HDD LOW LEVEL FORMAT TOOL and anything goes on to say that the ability of the player is 16GB. I have also tried the HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL and I did not put the actual capacity of the player, keeps saying I have 16GB.:(

Here is what I am doing with all the hacked players I buy from China (I resell them after removing the hack).



1. Download...

2. Run the program.

3. Check "As Physical Device"

4. Select the correct drive.

5. Check "Low Level Initialisation

6. Now go back up to the drive box and select the partition listing the hacked memory number.

7. Click start.

8. On the new menu that pops up remove all the partitions listed.

9. Create a new one on the number (1).

10. Slide the bar to whatever the correct memory size is (you need to find this out before hand).

11. Click ok.

12. Unplug device and replug when it asks.

13. Format device in windows.

The device should be showing the correct memory size now. Dump some files on and test it out.

Would you please advise me how to proceed after step 8 in your instruction ?

I have a screen (see attached) with 0,1,2,3 partitions showed up.
I can not delete them becuase they are empty and the delete button is not activated.

Questions:
(1) Do you have the same screen (see attached)? If you do how you delete them?
(2) When create a new partition, per your step 9 you selected #1, should I ignore the partition #0?
(3) If I format a new partition to 4GB, should the slide bar shows 4,278,853/32,255,970 before I hit "OK"?

This is so far I can proceed. Hope you can help to finish this unhack project.

You only need to delete them if they are showing up.

Your screen shows none so I don't think you have to worry about it.

Just ignore partition #0.

Click NEW on partition #1 then use the slider and set it to the correct memory size. Perhaps the partition number is irrelevant, I don't know, this is just what seems to be working for me without bricking the units.

Yes slide the bar across to approximately what the real memory should be. I underestimate mine slightly.

Let me know how it goes. Sorry about the rough instructions, I just wrote them up pretty fast on the fly.

I've been using this system since HDD Low Level Format Tool does not recognise most of the newer hack jobs and MP3 Disk Tools cannot even see these drives. I found this just by trial and error.

Thanks so much for your quick reponse and further instructions.

I have followed your steps in reformatting the MP5 faked memory size from 32GB back to 3.84GB (FAT32).

The MP5 USB drive and new main file with 3.84GB is confirmed and recognized in the XP explorer screen.
After disconnecting the MP5 from the computer USB port, the MP5 shows 3.945GB (Total).
No more 32GB faked capacity.
I can listen to a test MP3 music file (less than 10MB) from the MP5 with no problem.
In fact everything is running just fine.

The best is way to remove the bottom case/cover of your IPod and ID your flash memory part number. Do a search on the internet for its true physical memory size.

Otherwise you could read the following and do it without open your IPod:

This might wipe out your existing media file during the process. Make sure you have back up of your songs, photo etc....

My suggestion:
Read all avialable postings from other smart users that related to your IPod Model before do anything.
You can accomplish this by searching your topic within this wedsite. See the search icon at the top of your screen.
This is how I learn from the best and solve my problems!

Is the method safe enough? Doesn't it harm the player's firmware? I cannot backup the firmware. Nothing written here works with my player. So I am worry of its safety.

Hi! I tried the method described by Skinski at my own risk, and nothing happened. Absolutely nothing! It does not work with my player... :(

Like in the case of nty, there were no partitions, only empty records. I created a new one #1 with an appropriate size, pressed OK, replugged the player when asked, and found that nothing had changed. Detected memory size remained the same as was before, and the program chkflsh did not show the partition that I created. All data remained untouched, and nothing changed on the player at all. It looks like the chkflsh have nothing done. :(

Please advise what I did wrong and how to remove the memory hack.

ps guys who used the program chkflsh, were there any changed on your player after you created/resized partition and before your reformatted the player memory?

I have followed your instructions, and now I have a player with the correct size, in wich I can pastey files from my PC. The problem is that the player does not recognise them. For example: I paste an mp3 file, but when I try to se any music or any file from my player it says: "no file". Did I do anything wrong?

I have a 2GB Hynix memory hacked to look like 8GB. It is a RockChip 27xx player. H2testw.exe says there are 1.8 GB OK in the player. I have tried with partitions of several sizes: 1.8, 1.9, 1.7, 1.0... And the result is the same. Furthermore, in my player's System Information says that there are 3932.160 GB in total, all of them used.

I would appreciate some help, as my player is now useless.

I tried and got the same result. Nothing changed. The same wrong size. The same "Disk error" message when I tried to plat some song loaded. Please help.

I have a hacked 32 Gb that is 1.7Gb with H2testw, I tried to run Chkflsh but I had some dificulties like I couldn't delet the partitions (delete icon is disable and I used the delet key from keyboard and it didn't function either. Another doubt - when I select "Low Level Initialisation" it disable the drive box (that show number of cycles - I suppose that is there where I have to write 1,7 isn't it?). Other problem that my MP4 shows since I bought it is that my usb connection shows that it has a problem, but it works I don't know if it will fix when I get fix from 32Gb to 2Gb. Another doubt - now the FAT is 32, but I suppose that I have to select FAT 16 in the "new menu that pops up", isn't it?

Hi, I got stuck with one of these blasted rip off China MP-4 players and have had a ton of trouble with it. Spent 30 bucks so didn't want to toss it, you have allowed me to make a 2 gig player out of it, and now it works. Your description was so good, it was almost like I were back in school following a text book on computer repair. Now if I can figure out how to make that dang 32 gig counterfeit:eek: SD card I got a few months back so I can use a bit of that costly mistake, boy NO MORE CHEEP CRAP FROM CHINA FOR ME!!

I guess if the communist bastards can't take over our government they will buy our country and sell us crap.:cool:

Thanks so much, I was able to remove the fake memory, it seems that my 16 GB was actually a 2GB u__u, luckly I have a SD micro card, slot any idea how much memory will it support?

2Gb at max. it is unlikely that your player supports microSDHC memory cards.

There are some rare 4Gb microSD cards available, but nobody knows if they are compatible with your player. The only way to check is to try. And you'll waste money if you buy this card and then find out that it's not compatible.

Well, I will give it a try and see if I can borrow one instead :D, no ccc (china cheap crap) for me
