chinese mp4 player unknown device in xp

hi every one, can someone please help me. i have a chinese touch screen mp4 player with an anyka 3631 chip set. all the functions on the player work except the web cam.

When i plug the usb into the pc its shown as an unknown device and is unable to communicate with the pc the device instance id is shown as USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&2612C33&0&1 in device manager. is there any way to make the pc recognise the device or upgrade the firmware using the micro sd card.

Have you tried using another USB Cable instead to see if that works? Sometimes it's a problem with a faulty USB cable. Try that and let us know of the result.

Is there a RESET button on the side of your player somewhere? Look around and see if you can find a button or a small hole where you could potentially put a pin in it to reset your player.......

So the only problem with your player is that Webcam doesn't show up on your computer, is that right?
Do you have a CD that came with your player? I think your computer requires DRIVERS for the webcam so it knows what type of webcam it is.
Check the contents of the CD to see if you can install the drivers from there for your webcam.

the problem is the pc doesnt recognise the player. its shown as an unknown device in the device manager. i am therefor unable access the player to add files etc. i dont have the disc to install the drivers for the web cam but i didnt intend using the player as a web cam. do you think updating the firmware would let the pc recognise the player and is it possible to do this using the micro sd card
