16 GB Mp2/mp4 fake ipod, need lots of help in removing memory

Hello,

I recently purchased an 16 GB fake ipod and i do not know how to remove the memory to show the true memory. I looked up at the "how to remove hack memory" guide but I was unable to download the AMV converter. this appeared:

C:?DOCUME~1/COMPAQ~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/RAR$D189.000/MSI.CAB

I tried dl all different version of it and iit doesn't work. I have a windows XP. Is there another program I can use? or can someone help me with the current problem. (I don't know if this works) but someone told me to format it at windows..? I'm not sure what it meant but I plugged the ipod in and right click to hit format, under my computer. It still says 16 GB.

After a certain amt of songs in the ipod, the files started duplicating and I was unable to deleted them unless formating it. I really need some help on this. Thanks.

for what it's worth...I have bought the exact same item, and what you are describing is the exact same thing that happens to me..
the short answer for you is no...there is no resolution for this.
you can TRY to right click each duplicate file and select "delete" and watch it go away...then do it again for the next one (right click - delete) and delete each one, one at a time (that's the only thing that seems to work for me)

Mine is also 16 gig. I have 18 gig of music on my PC. I can commonly get about 200 songs on the device.
When you select MUSIC in the main menu, you can see a number on the TOP RIGHT of the screen indicating the number of songs you have on the device.
if I get 170 songs on the device...then try to add a few more...they seem to transfer, but when I got to the MUSIC menu and look at the amount of songs on the device...it may stay at 170.
I'll try and try and try to add more songs..but it just wont add more songs

I'll have to format the device (either on the device itself OR with the PC back to zero songs.
what I have found that works for me is copying songs about 20 to 30 at a time. I just put them on the ROOT directory (it's easier that way)
20 to 30 at a time seems to work pretty well (it takes a couple hours to get a couple hundred songs on the device). The most number of songs I have been able to put on is about 800. But even with that...like 50% gave a "format error" error message. I had to manually delete that song in the device (very annoying)
I bought mine from EBAY for like $5 ($20 shipping fee)

it DOES work...but I can't play more than like 400 (ish) songs at a time, 'cause the device just wont load 'em. I have to format the device completely if I wanna re-copy new/more songs on.

I can format it, and it'll only accept 170 songs, then format it again, and it'll only accept 230 songs...format it again, it'll stop at like 300 etc.

very annoying.

I'm saving up for a $129 SONY 16 gig mp3 player I saw in a retail store recently

I've got a 1 gig sony mp3 player

had it for about 5 years (guessing).

. It's not plug and play (SONY supplies a program called SONIC STAGE) which isn't exactly user friendly
. It's not overly user friendly (unless you've used it as much as I have and know how the menus all works)

. Sound quality is pretty good. And when I got it years back the only other thing I had was a RCA 126 lyra


We also have a 512 which is plug-and play...but the 1 gig did it for us on long car rides...but it's time for som'n new.

I found this bad boy which was displayed as a 16 gig MP4 player (16 gig is EXACTLY what I could use at the moment). It was being sold for $1 (or som'n like that).

I thought, even if I spent $5 on it..and if it turned out being stupid/fake....it's only $5.

I bought it for $5, there was a $20 shipping fee (more and more skepticism on authenticity).

I was told by the company that i'd get it in 9 to 19 days from the shipping day (which they said was the same day as they emailed that information to me). So I'm thinking...K...3 weeks, It'll be here.

To my surprise I had it in a week. Plug it into the PC, and sure enough, it's 16 gig (first cool thing).

I start throwing album after album on...then decided to stop at about 5 albums so I could test out the menu/functionality of the player.

I quickly found out it's NOT an Ipod...it's a cheap knock off (which didn't really surprise me). It IS plug-and-play, which is GREAT...considering the mini-disc they supplied pulled up installation applications in another language (I knew I wouldn't need the applications anyway).
The menu was really bad. It was challenging to navigate as the buttons just weren't set the way they should be set.

You expect the MIDDLE button to be the 'accept' button...but it's the power button.
anyway...there are too many bad things to talk about with the MENU.

I have a lot of MP3 music and WMA. the MP3 music is at 128kbps (don't need anyone throwing me their opinion on the best KBPS...there is no right answer...that works for me for now)

after throwing 10 gig of music on the thing (I did test out the first few albums and it worked...so I threw a bunch more on..)

I kept getting "FORMAT ERROR". For the last 24 hours-ish, I've spent a couple hours here and a couple hours there trying to FORMAT the device...throw a few songs on it....convert other songs to a different audio format...trying to figure out why some songs played and others didn't (though they're both the same format etc).

I just formatted it again (an hour ago) and hit the internet for like my top 10 fav. albums at the moment

and threw 'em all on straight from the RAR file right to the root directory...and somehow they're playing.

RANDOM / SHUFFLE is my absolute #1 favorite feature of a CD player/music player. I love the idea of pressing SHUFFLE / RANDOM and blast it and have it on in the background while working/driving/sleeping etc.

It took me like 5 hours to figure out how to find the SHUFFLE/RANDOM option (there were no instructions with the device). And at first I had 1 FOLDER = 1 album (had a folder named by BAND and all their songs) it played each folder/album in random...but wouldn't move to the next folder. I then decided to put ALL music in the root directory (though I could alternately put them in a single folder by themselves etc) and it seems to play just fine.

doing 10 minutes of research I found a LOT of people were "fooled" into buying one of these things and are also having great difficulties operating the thing.
When I get home tonight...I gotta figure out why my PC music isn't playing on it (I don't wanna DOWNLOAD every single music album that's already on my PC and then move it to the device.

It's kinda like a fight against the machine...I HAD to figure it out...and now that I'm as close as I've gotten...hopefully it'll keep working properly...but if it starts getting more confusing, I may PAWN SHOP it for $20 to 25 to at least TRY and make it out even in this deal (16 gig is a lot of music)

in the sellers defense...they were absolutely accurate with their item description..(as I re-looked up the selling page and read everything over again)...but in my ignorance...I didn't notice it was a fake Ipod...or a MOCK ipod

thanks for the reply nina! Do you know your estimated amount of gig your fakepod has? I don't think I can fit even upto 400 songs. I have a question though, so each time you format the mp3, you can fit different amounts of songs in it?

mine says "16 gig" as per what my computer recognizes. It is a 16 gig. I have no doubts about it.

BUT

. the software/menu navigation interface is horrible (the menu and buttons and ease-of-use

so the memory card on the mp3 is really a 16 GB? I thought its a fake, cause yesterday a ran a flash memory check on it and it gave me 1.7 GB usable memory...

As I said above....sometimes I have been able to put 200 songs on...then it just wont load more songs.
Other times, I can format it, and put 500 songs on it...and it just wont load more songs.

AND of those songs....not all of them play. I often get "format error" when trying to play.

Format error is due to hacked memory.

Once the real memory fills up everything else is just indexed with no actual data behind it. As you add and remove different files the index becomes really messed up until nothing will work on the player and thus you are formatting to fix it.

A better idea is to remove the hack by following the instructions I posted here.... PROBLEM TO REMOVE AN MP4 hacking

First you'll need to confirm the real capacity. I personally just 400MB movie files one by one and when I get to one that will not play I know I have overstepped the true capacity. I then use Check Disk as outlines in the linked post to recreate the boot info.

I find all the other guides are outdated in regards to the new players coming out of China.

Check Disk has worked for all the Touch Screens I buy as well as the Nano clones.
