Mini iTouch/iPhone 2.8" 8gb player needs firmware/software!
 

Hi folks!
I'm trying to fix my iTouch-style no-name "MP4 Player" that I got on Ebay about two years ago. Here are the particulars:

Mini iTouch-style (admin has pix of the same type with a real iTouch in the Gallery)
2.8" touch screen, 8gb internal memory, no camera. Can take an extra miniSD card.

In the "about" window of the player it lists: version:00.00.0001 2007-12-13

When I bought it on eBay, the ad specified that this was one of the "new" ones with high-speed 8gb memory (I'm guessing the previous generation had memory issues).

This has been a great player, with very good sound quality and video quality. It has a little trouble displaying Jpegs, and it doesn't actually accept MP4s, or any other video format than AVIs of a certain size, but it included software to convert videos to the right size and format.

Here's the problem: Last week, I copied some files from it onto a mac. I've done it before with no trouble (though I usually use a PC these days). Certain Mac operating systems insert files onto external drives (Ds.Stores, ._.Trashes, .Spotlight and a few others). These may slow down the player, but never posed a problem before.

This time, it seems like the player software got corrupted! It still works fine with MP3s on the SD chip, but will freeze when I play certain songs and not others. I've tried to delete all the tracks form the internal memory, but one folder has been corrupted and won't delete! I'd like to format the whole memory and reinstall the software/firmware, but I don;t have a copy and don't know what version I need.

Anybody out there help me?
