Overloaded fake memory & now player won't load

Hi. I bought a 16 GB mp4 player off eBay. It arrived and I tested it with er, that test that tells you how much data is lost/corrupted/OK. It told me that only 1.7 GB of data was OK. However, my brother insisted that the test was wrong, and that I should therefore load my music onto it. I knew the test was right, but did it to appease him. It accepted all the music but, as expected, it was all screwed up and only 2 GB actually existed on the player. Anyway, I turned on the player last night and it seemed okay despite this. I forgot to remove the music as I thought it would just delete it all anyway. Today, though, it won't turn on - it gets stuck on the welcome screen. I've tried to connect it to the PC to remove the music but it still gets stuck on the welcome screen which I assume it needs to get past to connect. So it doesn't appear on my PC.

I've reset it repeatedly but it still gets stuck on the welcome screen anyway. Still won't connect to PC.

Any ideas? I really like the player and I thought I could expand the memory with a SD card. Is there any way I can wipe it, get it to connect to the PC, anything?

Thank you.

You should be able to reformat it, is your pc still picking it up when u plug it in? or is it just frozen and your pc doesn't see it...

Hi. Thanks for the reply but my PC doesn't see it, so I can't format it.

Yeah I have no idea why they make these built in batteries, it would be much easier if u could pop the battery out and back in when they freeze up. I'm sure there will more helpful replies to your inquiry here. I just got a player myself and am trying to find out more about it...

Yeah, it's a bit stupid. I've no idea what I can do at this point because I've just tried the plug charger and it still gets stuck on the 'welcome' screen so is apparently not charging. There seems to be no way to access the device. Is there anything I can do by opening it up or is it a lost cause already, a day in? :\

Well the battery will run out sooner or later and then your pc should pick it back up when u plug it in 2 charge.

Hi. I let the battery run out and now it won't turn on, just brings up a low battery sign for about two seconds then turns back off. However, the PC still won't recognise it. I plug it in to charge and it just freezes on the welcome screen again.

Hey man i can't believe that piece of junk is still jammed after letting the battery run out. How long ago did u buy it? can u still put in a dispute to get your money back?

I have a similar problem. Copied over about 2gb onto a supposedly 8g device and now it is completly stuffed, not even a loading screen or anything.
