The Device called TMSON K7 and is based on a Rockchip 2729.
I have flashed all the different Firmwares mentionend in this thread without Problems.
The Device startet up, but the Buttons dont work. I have tried to put components from the other firmwares to the Original Firmware, which changes then but the Buttons still don't work. For me it comes down to the File in the Systemfolder called BASE.RKW. I think all the apps and settings are in this file. When i exchanged the ebook.bin in the APPDATA-Folder i can see no difference to the original Version. Because I am clueless now, i post two Pictures of this reader. Maybe somebody knows an branded Version of it which has a better Firmware.
Thanks for reading.

yes, restoring the original software was no problem with the RK28 Devicemanager.
Before i have tried the other firmwares i've backup the original one.
I have finaly found an OEM which is selling the device as Qumo fresh in russia.
They have a Firmware for download which i installed with no problem.
Here is the link:
http://www.qumo.ru/files/422
It basicly does not more then the original one. It has only 4 Languages, no formating options (only justified), No Backcolor settings. Only two Fonts (Times/Arial), in four sizes.
But the formating of epub works correctly now.
I hope they release more updates with more settingoptions for the readerpart

i am only using it for Epub. Pdf i have not tried.
It is not my mainreader anyway. I am still using a windows mobile based device with Ubook and alreader.
If the Firmware gets better , especially the configurationoptions, i may use it as my preferred reading device

Am I late on this?
Hello,
I'm a little bit late to this but I hope someone sees it.
I've got 2 of this black 7inch 4GB 480*800 Pixels screen ebook reader A121 | eBay ebooks.
However, I did it in separate times. The first one is very nice and I use it a lot, but the second one has some problems like... Rotation only work with pdf and freeze on ebook submenu.
So I checked both firmwares. The good one has Rockchip v1.0.5 and the bad one has Rockchip v0.0.0 (?!?!)
Understanding now that this could be a firmware problem, I downloaded SX-EB700_tool from skytex.
However, the program is suppose to detect the reader via usb, wich it does; then after clicking on "switch" it's suppose to gain access to the reader system... wich it doesn't, because after I press "switch", the reader switches off the screen and the blue led stays on. I believe that this can be a driver issue.
Is there other way of getting v1.0.5 into the reader?
PS: I have windows 7 64 home
Thanx in advance

All the instructions are near the beginning of this thread. I don't remember what version i have installed (bad mem in my head) it seems so long ago.
I have the colourful skytex version on my ereader. I did have the firmware version thats in your link, but i prefered the skytex for eye candy. I use epubs and mobi files on mine and have no interest in using pdf files.
I tried pdf, but just too messy to view.
To reset the ereader, find a needle and use it to push the reset button in the hole on back of the ereader.
I don't think you use the `switch` tab if i remember rightly. You should use the upgrade tab, and that will upgrade the img file in the `path` in the RK28 tool to the ereader. You do have the .img file to upgrade which is around 100 meg?

Thanx for your reply.
I don't have the firmware (100mb?!?) all I saw around the net was 10mb files, but no .img
Also I cant open those hiden partitions you've been talking in this post.
I tried with the upgrade tool for Primer from Skytex but it doesnt work.
Do you have the files and programs needed for this? Or can you point me the links?
Once again , thanx.

I've found two versions of RK27 Device Manager. 1.4.0 and 2.5
Did you used one of this?

Ok, i'm getting somewhere...
I've managed to unhide the partitions.
The problem now is that when i open the img file (that I created with ultraiso) i get an error "Getting the version of loader failure".
It could be a driver problem (I have windows 7 64bits.) or a badly made .img file.

Well, thats it. I tried the wrong firmware, and I've killed it.
Now it doesnt even turn on or connect to pc.
Guess i'm going to sleep and thing of a way how to tell my wife that i've crashed her reader.
I think i'll blame the dog on this one...
